    2016 F type R AWD

Hello all. I finally decided on a car. I was looking for a '14 or '15, but stumbled across a '16 AWD coupe that was local. It had a fender bender which broke the front left headlight and surrounding plastic, and was repaired by an expert, but because the Carfax had the accident on the record, the guy couldn't sell it. I got it for the price of a '14. I've put about 5000 miles on it so far and it has been completely trouble free. Just went over 50k miles, so I'm going to do the rear end oil change and a couple other things.

Anyway, I plan to tune it a little bit. Nothing crazy- I doubt I even put new pulleys on it. But it does feel like there are some potential gains available. I'll post the stock tune in the repository. I just ordered an upgrade to my MPVI Pro to the MPVi3, so I have to wait a little bit for it to get to me. Once I get it, I'll upload the tune. I saw a couple posts where folks had asked for the stock 5.0 tune.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions or anything, I'd love to hear them.

    Hi
I can help with the tune, just need to know what fuel you are running i.e octane and any modifications.
They are a great car, enjoy the ride.
Currently running 11.2 1/4 mile RWD, hopping for high tens once i have tune the ZF box etc.

    Hi,
have you both pulleys changed or only the lower crank pulley?
Thank you so much for your answer

Mine is completely stock. I just downloaded the stock tune. I can't figure out how to upload it to the repository for you guys to look at. Someone had asked for a stock tune. I thought I'd up the torque max settings in the transmission to start. It's set to 546 ft. lbs. at the moment. Interesting that the shift time is 400ms in automatic, but 60ms in paddle shift. I literally just downloaded it 5 minutes ago, so haven't checked anything out yet. I haven't used HP tuners in many years, so this torque management stuff is new to me. In fact, it has changed a lot. I never heard of lamda tuning before, so I have a lot to figure out before I start making major changes. I'm just hoping to get it up to at least SVR power, maybe a little more. Thanks.

I'm running 93 from the pump. Nothing crazy. I drive it to work quite a bit. Not a race car, but I still want a bit more power. You can tell it's got more in it. You can feel it take off like a savage, but then get reigned it- you can actually feel it. I know it's the ECU pulling it back.

I pulled my first set of logs driving home from work last night. Only had the opportunity for one brief WOT pull, so the logs probably aren't very useful. I have not changed anything yet. It's sad that HP Tuners no longer allows sharing of tunes, however I do understand why- I'm sure the EPA gave them a warning, plus there were probably some bricked ECUs out there from idiots uploading bad tunes to the repository. If anyone wants to see a stock '16 R tune, let me know and I'll email it to you.

60 ms with paddle and 400ms in automatic mode??? I have the HP Tuners Gear Update, and I think the paddels are faster, but from 400 to 60ms? I cant believe that!
    Is it so?
    Many thanks

Here's the stock tune. Maybe I misread it.

What you read a the shift time is actually just the gear engagement for each gear that has nothing to do with actual shift speed.
The shiftspeed is calculated by the various stage of the shift wich are quite a few. Fill/Tq Intervention/pressure/ramp/engine type to name a few on my car i get close to 300ms for the actual shift time meaning clutch to clutch time for high power shifts.
The 60ms is just part of the equation for the transmission to calculate manual shifting.
You can set that to 500ms and it will not make any difference.
    Hope this helps

How about a quick tutorial on how to tune the jaguar transmission? You seem to understand it pretty well. Or maybe give us some places to go to learn? Thanks!!

If anyone knows of any resource on how to tune these cars, please post it. I found out that Fords use the same ECU we have- or some Fords do, but they are different enough that the tutorials for Ford aren't 100% helpful. They are very different than GM computers, which is what I learned on, in that there are no definitive tables for anything- just individual tables that nibble at each parameter in their own way. As Random stated above, "The shiftspeed is calculated by the various stage of the shift wich are quite a few. Fill/Tq Intervention/pressure/ramp/engine type to name a few". Same with everything else, there's lots of individual tables that control the final fuel command, torque command, driver demand, etc. that I can't quite put together.

    Please help!!

I would love to see your transmission calibration, I have the RWD F-Type R so i dont know if my calibration matches yours(i doubt)
I honestly tested everything myself there is no harm to be done if you mess with shift speeds in a + or - 50-100ms range.

Pressures: control shift firmness as well as shift speed (in a sense since it can just "pull" the gear in if its high enough)

Tq Management controls firmness and speed aswell (you cutting the power that allows the gear to slip in faster or slower)

The shift timing does nothing atleast for me so you could set the whole table that says to 500ms and have the same shift speed(i dunno how that works tbh)
Ramp time can be set to 0ms (has no effect i found on mine)
Ramp pressure can also be set to 0
    (Thats what i did)

For perfect clutch pressures or testing you can disable the "flare adder" (or put in a low pressure value) so you can see when flare occurs and let of the paddle quick(not recommended but thats how i checked)

It's not a guide more like a "this is what i did and it works"
Btw the fill times on mine are so low you won't feel a difference at all if you tweak them.
Remote tuning isnt something i can do for you btw but i can compare tunes and see what might help you.

The stock tune is a few posts above, which includes the transmission. If you find any differences, please post them. Thanks.

Lots of differences also i would really appreciate if you pull both calibrations independently makes it easier to tune for your specific case since its not standard software.
You should also make some gear pulls before hand or even a 60-130mph or 100-200kmh time so you can see if changes make a difference i got my car from 8.3 to 7.5sec for the 100-200kmh time so i would expect you can do the same.
Most of the time saves comes from shifting later so don't expect more than a few horses from tuning the engine software.
Pulleys are the obvious way to go if you want to make more power.
Stock 590ish is the max you can expect and thats with plenty of software flashes.
I made about 30 engine revisions before i could do 7.5sec
But honestly just start by transmission software and see where you get and then tweak the engine.

I've been watching some videos and playing around a little bit, and I think I've got most of it down now, however, I noticed that the torque management tables seem to be backwards. For all of the other tables, such as oncoming clutch pressure, Slip time, etc. the Performance table is more "aggressive" than the Normal table. However, with Torque Management, Performance mode is subtracting quite a bit more torque than Normal mode. Am I seeing this correctly? Maybe this is because the other Performance maps are so much more "aggressive" than the Normal ones, so it's trying to keep from breaking things??? What do you think?

Sorry i don't get on here much. Just finished installing a water and methanol kit (Snow DI) on the f-type as well, with my supporting mods i have manged to get 622 RWHP and 1100NM of torque. 14-15 psi of boost at 28.5 degrees of timing, 12.00 AFR.
If you need some help please feel free to email me at [email protected]
I feel your frustration not much support for this platform. GM I know like the back of my hand LOL
Hopefully out to the drag strip soon and run a 10.7 fingers crossed.
