Adjusting Speedometer After Bigger Tires 2022 SIlverado Global B ECM E90

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking at having my ECM unlocked on my 2022 refresh Silverado with the Global B e90 ECM i believe. My Trans shifts fine but speedometer is 3-4mph off and so is mileage, etc.

Can I correct my speedometer with just unlocking the ECM and using the Gear/Tire wizard to update to my new tire size/rev count?

Or do I have to have the TCM unlocked as well and change something in there too?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you're fine with the shift points, you should be fine with just the ECM... however the complete way would be to do both. 3-4 MPH off at 20MPH is very different than 3-4MPH off at say 100 MPH so it's hard to say definitively what you "need" to do.

Have they made global B tuning available to the rest of the public or just the 100 people that make them the most profit?

HP tuners offers the unlock service for Global B ecm/tcms now and then allows us to change everything or a Dyno tune shop to change parameters etc.

Thanks for the other replies everyone. I may just give HP tuners a call unless one of their customer service guys responds to this thread and tells me what the course of action needs to be

I thought the restrictions were only on the high performance vehicles (C8, Blacking, V). I didn't think the other Global B was un-accessable.. hopefully someone with actual experience will chime in as I'm curious as well.

Un-Accessible by the owner of the vehicle or average tuner. Only people who sale interfaces and who usually don't want to touch them can tune them. Then again, I and some others who have tried to open them up may just have had too old of interfaces. Mine's a 2 and "I think" you have to have a 2+ or newer. May just be time for me to get another interface to be able to open them? Guess I could contact support and find out.

Good news is the Global B's are supposed to have the tables mapped correctly, so anyone trying to tune one of them and who knows how to tune a gen V for all the temperature corrections and everything should be able to tune one unlike the Global A's which have a few of the spark tables mapped wrong. I know of one of them mapped wrong and am told there are some others. In other words, watch out what you change on 19 + Global A's.

Hey Kyle, thanks for the feedback. I am off 3-4 at about 75-80mph. Only about 2 off at 40-55mph speeds. I know it?s a progressive rate.

My understanding is the trans shifts ( normal driving conditions) when it sees a certain MPH and I figured if I corrected the speedometer on the ecm side for the bigger tire that would resolve the speedo and mpg calculator being off.

Does that sound correct ? Anyone else have any feedback to my logic?

@HP tuners reps as well for feedback?

    Thanks in advance guys

Just got clarification from support on this and this is what they told me after going back and forth a little....

You need a MPVI3, (although I have been told a 2+ may or may not work from another member) AND you have to use one of their Resellers to have it unlocked, however after having it unlocked as long as you have the correct interface YOU ARE supposed to be able to tune it yourself.

Soooo, guess I need to order a newer interface now and do these on my other laptop........

You are mostly correct. While I have not done anything global B, my friend has a L86 8 speed I did just what you are asking back in 2018. His Speedo is perfect and his estimated MPG are close to actual. He has 90k miles currently, and I've never tuned the transmission. Just FYI, the transmission uses multiple triggers and a variant of inputs to determine shift points. Speed is just one of them. RPM, throttle, torque, and a handful of others are all referenced and will have different values than a completely stock vehicle would. That being said, I'm sure you will be fine doing just the ECM.

So we will still need to get the module unlocked through someone else, if we are not on the approved list 🤦🏻*♂️. Lame.
I have a client with a fleet of vans that he has me limit the vehicles to 74MPH...that's it, lol. However the new ones are not currently supported. So that's lame that I will have to send another shop the ECM to send to HPT to unlock and then back to me.
I bought a separate MPVI3 to do these on my second laptop. I decided not to take the "upgrade" path from my MPVI2 as there is no benefit I can see. IE: there are no more "unlimited" paths for credits and thus it's just one more step for me to make sure I'm using the correct interface
I really can't comprehend this new direction HP Tuners is heading. Are these approved shops held to a higher standard? Like are they taking the heat off of HPT if something happens that the EPA is not happy with? Or is this simply, thanks for making us more money than the rest, here's a handout to make you some more money 🤷🏻*♂️

Yeah and until I'm able to look at one myself, I'm still not entirely sure about it. I only say that because hpt "claims" everyone can tune or edit them, but at the same time they have the big bold print on the website about the E90 Global B's that says that only their "resellers" can do anything with them at the moment. Then you talk to support and support says anyone can edit them after having it unlocked by one of their resellers. Kind of contradicting one another there... I know if you get into mods on them you really have to know how to adjust your temperature modifiers and torque models otherwise it'll never be right. Then to say only their resellers can do this, is kind of a joke to me especially since I would say 99% of them won't touch or don't know how to touch this stuff

The overreach of the EPA is holding a gun to the back of HPT. Comply or we will fine you into bankruptcy.
