    6l80 tcc mystery

hi below is my tune, I am experiencing a weird tcc lockup issue; where I will be driving at a speed/rpm/tps for the converter to apply, but it doesnt. *sometimes*. i have reviewed the tcm edits and put most of the torque converter settings back to stock minus desired slip, and raising offset to 70 and gain to 1.0, etc. i have tried disabling adapts (not sure i did it correctly)

while i am driving at speed, with the signal unwilling to be sent to lock the tcc, i can manually lock it with scanner the special functions and it will remember to lock from then forward..with adapts on

ive read maybe the misfire count could be not letting the tcc apply? i have 10 total misfires while driving around town idk if that's setting it off

super weird and annoying any help or direction would be appreciated. iron5.3 low idle2 trans tuned2.hpt

need a log fella. search TransGoRobert's posts, he has provided an excellent channel list in multiple posts you can add to your existing channels.

Ive added all the channels I possibly could relating to the trans & tcc.

as you can see in the log @ 7:30 and beyond I am well within the lockup table and it just wont command lockup. I can manually force lockup with the special functions in the scanner.

    any help is appreciatedwont lockup.hpl

I can't say why it is not commanding it to lock except for twice towards the end of your log, I am not knowledgeable enough on the tune side of thing. But that's one weird pressure command you have there for the lock-up when it commands it ON. It can't say if is not commanding it due to a lean conditions, you did logged only the short term fuel trims but not the long term. To know for sure if a lean conditions, a misfire detection or knock detection is preventing it from commanding lock-up, the easiest way would be to put the tune back to sock and see if now it commands it as it should or not. If it is then the issue is your tune, if not then you would have to log more engine PIDs so that we can narrow down the issue on the engine size causing this.

those two times it locked it forced lockup via the scanner and i assume it held the pwm wide open hence the high number

i will indeed put my tune as far back to stock as i can and work forward.

    btw i have a tow&pro its a nice kit!

Ah ok now I understand why it locked like that all at once and at max pressure. That kit is really popular, we hit it out of the park on that one for sure.

Have you got the stock tune file to attach here?

Your fluid temp is low in that log. Might or might not be contributing. Does your issue remain with warmer trans temps?

ill attach a stock tune file later today

yes issue remains at any trans fluid temperature

ive noticed my volumetric and dynamic airflows are a little off around idle speeds up to 1800rpm. might that be a contributing factor? since thats usually where it also will cruise at when tcc applies.

    thanks for any help

need to see your stock tune first and another log would be good if you could get up to 110 - 120km/h and put it on cruise control on an uninterrupted flat road. Then move the shift lever into other shift mode(s) (not familiar with your truck set-up) and leave it there for a good bit to see if lock up happens in the other mode.

Things like, low air pressure, cold engine, cold trans, min throttle, mis-fire test and a whole bunch of things. A ripper one is changing the shift pattern type. it will cause the tcm to point to shift and tcc tables that are not accessible by the editor.

Also double check you've deselected the off button when you force apply the tcc. It'll stay unlocked if you don't.

ive narrowed the lack of tcc command down to what i did to the idle final airflow table and it not agreeing with the vve, i think...

any good threads on how to dial in my final idle air vs VVE?

    thanks
