Tuning Difficulty; VE table unresponsive. *First timer*

    Car is a 1999 base Corvette 6MT

Custom Cam 230/241 .615/.614 112+3 by John Bewley from FPP
    FIC 525cc High Imp. Injectors
    fresh 799 castings milled .010"
    Kooks 1 7/8" LTHs
    BW intake
    AEM 30-0300 X-Series Wideband

Some history: Once the car was put together, I immediately took it to a local tuner to get it dialed in. He had a ton of issues adjusting fuel and blamed the fuel pump although fuel pressure remained pretty steady at 58psi. It was an old tired fuel pump so I took it home and immediately freshened it up just for piece of mind. Back on the dyno, he still had issues. He charged me full price and gave me the car back basically incomplete.

I decided to tune the car myself since I had done all the work on the car myself anyway. I read/watched a lot of resources that are available thanks to this forum and I feel like I understand what I need to do but unfortunately the car still does not want to cooperate.

    1. The car runs rich everywhere. it is constantly hovering around 10-12 AFR whether its driving under load, idling and decelerating.

    2. I am attempting to adjust the VE table and have disabled the MAF to do it. It seems like the changes I am making on that table doesn't help and still runs incredibly rich. I switched the table back to the stock VE table and it immediately throws a code and reduces engine power the moment I start the car.

    3. Idle stays above 1500 rpm when I let off the clutch and only goes back to commanded 900 RPM when I am at a full stop. Where can I adjust this?

I am slightly frustrated but this is a learning experience for me and I definitely don't want to give up. Thanks for everyones time.

Your secondary VE table needs to match the primary.

I have no idea why but it seems like they actually prioritize the secondary table. But anyway after you make changes to your primary.. copy WITH LABELS then paste into the secondary table and everything will line up.

For the idle.. There is a Idle airflow table. Log STIT and LTIT and apply those corrections to this table. Don't take too much time on this until the fueling is under control.

This is a decently hard setup to be your first tuning project.

I can see this. I'm still committed to get this right regardless. I did contemplate maybe getting a much milder cam and reverting back to stock injectors to make it easier, but I will hold off for now. I'd like to see if I can still save this and learn from it.

I'll make the changes to the secondary VE and get another log in.

The injectors make no difference between easy or hard as long as the data is entered right.

I recommend you apply the 1 bar custom OS. That gets rid of the secondary VE table. The larger table gives you better resolution.

I think the problem your previous tuner was having is same as what problem you're having. Making changes to the primary VE and not carrying them over.

This will give you a starting point. Open this file and then do a "write entire".

I applied the changes to the secondary table and it finally started cooperating but wasn't able to get much done due to the weather.

I will go ahead and apply the new OS and start over today.

    I appreciate everyone's help.

OS = operating system, in this case.

I think there is a link in the stickey's to abbreviations and acronyms related to HP Tuner/automotive general knowledge.

Thanks. This is what I thought frankly but I could not understand meaning of making 1 bar OS?

I posted a file for you that's already setup with the COS and a VE table that should get you close.

The custom 1 bar Enhanced OS upgrade that is offered gets rid of the secondary VE table and adds some other options that are sometimes useful. Of course this is just for NA applications, but i have used this one OS's that have the 2 VE tables to get rid of one and gain some more flexability in other areas such as PE.

I was able to upload that file and went for a drive. It definitely feels a lot better. Idle is still a problem but I will deal with it after.

ive made a lot of adjustments and I can definitely see the VE getting closer and closer the more I drive. I attached the latest log. I see several spots where knock is detected when I am giving gas/letting off clutch in 1st.
