    Ls1 surging idle

    Good morning,

    I have a stock bottom end LS1
    BTR stage 2 turbo cam (220/23X .618"/.618" 113 LSA)
    fast 102 with a 102mm throttle body
    stock ls1 coil packs
    stock ls1 injectors.

    1 7/8 headers, 3" collectors
2.5" exhaust with Borla x-pipe muffler.

    t56 magnum trans
ACT LW flywheel and single disk clutch.

I am new to tuning and have only really messed with VE tables for speed density tuning on my old 5.3l.
The 5.7l was tuned in a previous car by a tuner who is no longer around so I cant ask him for help.

The car runs fine other than having issues with a surging idle. It will run fine for 30 seconds or so then start surging. I checked the map sensor Cal. and it is reading correctly according to my local weather station. I see that the timing is fluctuating but I am still trying to figure out if that is the cause of the issue or a symptom.

The only DTC i have is for a failed MAF, but from what I can tell it is disabled in the tune.

I'm sorry for the shortness of this post I am trying to get this out there before I leave for work. I will check back as often as I can throughout the night to answer any questions or clarify anything.

Thank you for any help, John

Well hey, at least you posted a data log and tune file so we're off to a good start.

You are logging all the pids you need, that's first thing.

Second, it's "rich". The narrow bands are hung up around 900mv.

Third, your MAF table is stock and you're making changes to your VE primary and secondary, but it's not in speed density.

Get the MAF and VE tables dialed in and the idle will come around.

Thank you for the quick response.

I am only running the car in speed density.

For removing the MAF and remaining only in speed density. I was under the understanding that if under airflow > dynamic > dynamic airflow > high rpm disable, by setting that outside of my RPM range that would disable the MAF and keep me in only speed density? By setting mine at 8000 rpm it should never switch to reading MAF correct? Or will I still need to zero out the MAF table as well?

Thank you for pointing me down a path to sort this out. I will start working on the ve tables. I was hesitant to mess with them since they were set but someone much more experienced than. I was.

    Thank you again, John

Engine diagnostics>airflow>maf fail frequency high=0. That disables your MAF. Then set your maf dtc list to mil on first error. Whether you uncheck ses enable to keep the light turned off is optional. Setting your dynamic disable to 8000 or zeroing your maf table is not needed, and will not do what you want anyway.
