Will you guys be able to instantly release the software? Is it basicly Chryslers engineering division that doesn't want 3rd party tuners having access to their stuff? I was just curious.

Given GM's profitability, the odds of buying Chrysler from MB is rather moot.
nothing is instantaneous when it comes to coding.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Just the patents alone would be worth buying ChryCo. That is, if Daimler doesn't keep them....
Think of the cross development..... GM and ChryCo engineers working side by side. GM cars and ChryCo cars coming down the same assy line. Think of a LS2 powered Jeep Rubicon....

I'd rather not.
If MB is offing them, not much chance of GM buying a sinking ship. No benefit to GM.

I heard the that GM China has the reserves to buy Chrysler 3x over and that the deal is in the works. They will most likely phase out GMC and market 3 brands Chevy, Dodge, and Chrysler as the high end vehicles. Just rumors though, a lot of the stuff on the net is pure BS. I heard heard this has some teeth though

Turbo,
If this rumor does have teeth, and GM sinks into Dodge/Chrysler, we would not be able to flip a switch and have the tuning software done. It would take years for GM and Dodge/Chrysler to integrate platforms with emissions and safety regulations.
On a separate note, this deal is highly rumored, but is not likely. GM already has enough competition within it's own nameplates, and GM has it's own issues with healthcare etc. They don't need to be buying more problems that they already have.
There would be some great technology sharing though, but they already have the New Venture deal for trannys with Ford (Chrysler was involved) and they are working with Daimler Chrysler and BMW on a hybrid electric vehicle powertrain that is due to debut on a Tahoe later this year. With these joint ventures being proven, they don't need to buy them.
By the way, what would you think about the next gen Camaro with a 5.7L Hemi?

After seeing the story on the LQ4 with the GM HOT cam making 483 hp, and a 228/230 duration cam and L92 heads making 550 hp, with why bother with a Hemi? Scarf the patents and be done with them. Just like when Gateway bought Amiga....
n0dih,
I have seen strange decisions made becuase it's profitable on paper!
