    Valet mode

I'm looking to get some tuning software. My tuner uses HP Tuners so naturally I am leaning that way. Is there a way to set up a valet mode through HP Tuners that would use a switch. I'd like to have a tune that keeps anyone from getting themselves in trouble. i.e. wife, mechanic, etc. I did a search but it only turned up some old threads. TIA

currently no "Valet" mode so to speak...
you could always just set the sped limiter to a ridiculous low value like 15mph
and set the rpm limiter to 2000 or something like that..
I've done that when I took it into a shop before and I didnt want them screwing around with my 450hp camaro

just let them know so they know its like that and they usually play nice too

The problem with that is I don't want to carry my laptop around with me so that I can make those changes. I know EFI live can do what I'm after with a custom OS, but I'd rather buy HPT.

Unfortunatly at this time we don't have anything incorporated into our custom operating systems for a switchable valet mode.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Bummer. Are there any plans for valet mode functionality?

Or is it possible to wire a second PCM with a valet tune? Then have a switch to select valet/normal PCM?

I don't think there are any plans for the immediate future...probably wouldnt be worth it to try and wire in a second pcm either.

I think my dad's car has something like that. A lexus es 300. It has a special key for valet, I heard that it can't open the trunk or glovebox (and when you open the car with it you can't pop the trunk), and also its got a speed and rev limiter.

I never tested it but that's what ive heard.

LOL, They don't stock that at Radio Shack?

I was thinking you could supply just one with power or something.

Doug...I am not seeing a valet mode so to speak...
    its a recovery device..not a limitation device...

    am I missing something?

Hmmm, instead of going through all this trouble, it seems to me easier to just park the car yourself

In "valet" mode, it will send you a voice mail to your phone if the car moves out of a 1/4 mile range that you park it in. Then you can track it with any web browser.
    "911 what's your emergency"
"My stolen car is going down the 5 freeway passing......"
    You get the picture.

    thats a good feature...
I didnt really read far enough...does it keep people from reving up banging off your rev limiter and doing a monstrous burnout destrying your tires and causing undue wear and tear to your vehicle when the engine is not even up to full operating temperature yet??

when I think of Valet mode I usually think of not going over 15mph and not being able to pass 2000 rpm or something like that

No, but it does have a "do not move" mode thus disabling the starter.

but that defeats the purpose of putting it in Valet mode when you go to somewhere to have something done to it or to have the "Valet" park it while you go gamble at the casino............

Just find an old phone relay cabinet and re-wire as necessary.

It would only take 32 4-pole relays, just make sure you get contacts rated for the injectors.

Break-before-make would be preferred, I don't think 2 PCM's running in parallel would be very good for any amount of time...

No, the Do Not Move mode kills it if it goes out of a 1/4 mile radius (and phones you)

Not a full valet mode but could'nt we just use a switch and an appropriate resistor accross the IAT and use the 120 degree column in the IAT spark table to pull say 10 to 15 degrees of timing over the whole g/cyl range?? that will slow em down.. There maybe other factors involved but this is a start.

actually I do the resistor trick with a switch and a relay...use the upper side of the IAT spark table to do a nitrous tune...
