E39 LFX not getting vss signal

    Hello

Still looking for speedo output solution on E39 pcm running 2014 LFX V6 manual gearbox into a miata. I'm getting no speed signal in HP Tuners logger and subsequently no speedo action at the dash. The harness was converted to stand alone from an automatic harness. Done several and have not had this problem.

Wired in vss off of manual gear box (MV7). I have pin A on the vss going to pin 8 on the black connector (X2) (output speed high input signal). I have pin B going to ground and I have pin C getting 12 volts.

I have all the speedo settings in HP Tuners configured the same way as about 5 others I have done that all work properly. I'm working off of a 2013 pin out. All the engines I use are 2014 and all the pcm's I run are E39 with my base calibration flashed in.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? Thanks in advance. It is the only thing keeping this car from going home!

May be a dumb suggestion considering you?re considerably more experienced than I am, is your VSS good? Have you checked variable signal (I think this is pin A going to pin 8) with a multimeter? If everything else is as it usually is and you haven?t had problems before, I?d default to tracing the signal path starting at the sensor, check the wires up to the ECU.

Turned out to be a bad pin connection at the pcm. Popped the pin out, tightened up and reinstalled and got speedo! Also, with no vss signal redline was restriced to 5300 rpm. With vss signal I'm getting all 7250 rpm! Thanks for the input.

Glad you got it worked out, wiring gremlins are the worst.

Hey, any chance you could shoot over the tune you use for NA/NB LFX swaps? I'm getting some annoying throttle hang, I've been trying to work it out with one of the guys that helped with the tune, but I'm also just learning to tune this platform on my own and looking for "stare-and-compare" tunes that I can measure against. I checked my performance against Shandelle's shop car a couple weekends ago and the throttle hang on my car is very noticeable. I have the same MACE cams, my tune might be a little hotter than his, but just trying to see what's different so I can tune it out. It's most irritating slowing for a corner since I get virtually no engine/diff braking.

I did adjust the adaptive idle max VSS from 4.3 to 300, my hang is happening when I go WOT or over 5k rpms and then let off throttle, logs show my pedal position going back to 0 (or relative 0, when I'm not touching my pedal it's at 23%...) but my throttle position hangs 10-15% over minimum value for about a full second before dropping, so my RPMs hang for a little over a second.
