    2013 f150 6r80 converter issues

How is it goin. I have a 2013 f150 5.0 with a built power by the hour 6r80 and a custom built converter. Converter was lowered in stall speed and tightened up to have better torque multiplication for towing. when logging I am finding the ecu is commanding 1020 slip and the converter is slipping 200 to 250 under load. I have spread my shifts out a bit allowing 2 -3 to come in at 26mph. After the shift completes and the rpm raises to 2k the rpm gauge bounces between 1900 and 2100 before grabbing and smoothly accelerating. per my logs I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I have attached the log below2013 trans log.hpl

I am trying to achieve the best setup for towing. I am also having issues with kickdown it will jump from 6th gear to 4th gear then to 3rd gear instead of just selecting 3rd from the beginning. Any help would be appreciated. After the transmisson is finished I plan on starting timing tuning (e85 truck) and messing with the vvt system.

All seems fine in there, what you notice is simply the converter unlocking as it should during the shift and then the RPM drops a bit later once the converter commands it to lock again. Also, when it is saying desired slip 1020 it just means the converter is commanded to be fully unlock, it does not mean that's what the converter slip should be 1020. The slip varies with load, RPM and K factor of the converter.

Alright thank you . Any idea how to get the trans to shift from 6 to 3rd instead of 6 to 4 to 3. Im assuming its in the fast array down shift tables.

I don't know if the tune can be changed to allow that. I would not do it if it was me even if it was possible because swapping 6th to 3rd directly would be too hard on the transmission.

this is at a full throttle pull at 60. Trans thinks for about 1.5 to 2 seconds shifts to 4th for 2 seconds then shift into 3rd and accelerates 3rd is only at 4k when shifting down. It behaves like it thinking before actually doing something and is very noticeable. If it something I have to live with its not a big deal but it feels weird to say the least. Im wondering if i just need to speed up the downshifts in that area then?

That's just part of the torque management strategy in driven by wire vehicles. It feels odd and can be annoying at first and some will modify the tune to get it to react faster, but I personally don't know how to do that. Others hopefully will chime in and helps you modify the tune so that it does what you want.

Do you have a rpm limit for downshift that is around 4k?
