    Timed Out

    E38/T43 2011 Sierra
Trying to write calibration to T43---Bootloader Timed out/Data transfer . Tried several times.
Tried writing engine and T43 together--- writes engine, will not write trans.
I don't remember ever having this happen.
Trans works fine after the non write, just needs a few tweaks.

I had this problem with my 5th Gen Camaro. It was due to a bad USB cable. Had to buy a brand new one. Cant say that's your issue, but that's what it was for me. Might be worth a try.

I can write my other vehicles, and I can write the engine side on the tune in question. Just not the trans

    Can you re-read the TCM?

bootloader timeout errors are almost always related to a battery voltage or wiring issue with the vehicle. Unrelated to our hardware/software.

I made sure the battery was fully charged. It could be a wiring issue. It's been a long time since I did a trans tune change on this. I will try gtstoreys suggestion and go from there. Thanks

Well, that's weird. Yes, I can read the trans portion of the tune by itself and the engine tune by itself. I am going to use the read that I just did, and modify it and then try and write it by itself.

Sounds like interference on the network.

I don't get that (interference on the network)?

Something in the wiring disrupting comms with the ecm.

I thought he meant between my ears.
I don't know that I can figure this out. There must be different wires for reading and for writing. ?

Not different wires but there could be more built in protection since interference/static/noise/ while writing to the module is much more likely to cause a serious problem than just reading it.

Are there any aftermarket items that might be tied into the network like a radio? Have you done a visual inspection of the wiring?

There is a radio, but it is the stock radio and is off. I have removed the trans plug and reinstalled and the two computer plugs. All the wiring looks good?
One thing---the external fuel pump is running when I am trying to write. Just thought about that. I will pull the plug on that and try again.

    That wasn't it.....
