2013 Raptor 6R80 - Transmission Speed Sensor Update

My dad purchased a 2013 Raptor with the dealer installed Roush supercharger package and the transmission speed sensor issue just recently got brought to his attention where if the sensor fails it locks up the transmission or throws it into first gear. He is planning to take it in to the dealer to have the update flashed on to the truck before the issue decides to show up. Now comes the issue he has. The dealer told him when they program the truck, it will revert it back to programming for a stock Raptor which would essentially make the truck inoperable because they do not have the ability to put the Roush tune back on although they are a certified Roush dealer/ installer (Doesn't make sense to me but I don't make the rules). The dealer told him only way he to get the tune put back on the truck would be to get with Roush and Roush told him he would have to pull the ECU and ship it to them and have them reprogram it. In order to not have to wait potentially weeks (What he was told by Roush) on the ECU we were planning on using my MPVI2 to pull the current tune on his truck, get it flashed, and then re-upload the tune on to the truck. This brings me to a couple of questions:

    1. I know I can write the tune back to the truck but would it overwrite the transmission speed sensor issue back on to the truck? In the tune file it looks like when you write to the ECM it is also writing the TCM so I assume either they are very closely connected or everything is done in the same unit. (Correct me if I am wrong please!)

    2. Is there a way to program the fix the dealership would do with HP so he doesn't even have to deal with the dealership? We have some reading it looks like it can be done with an SCT tuner but that would require him to purchase a tuner and a tune from somewhere to fix the issue. He has found a company that provides a package with some modifications like smaller pulley as well as a custom tune through an SCT tuner. However, he just had to spend a bunch of money on maintenance and repairs for the truck and can not currently afford the package although that is the route he would like to take in the future, and he said the tuner appears like it has pretty minimal functionality for him as a consumer other than flashing a tune on.

I do not currently have a tune file of the truck but could possibly have one this weekend if it is needed.

I apologize if this issue has been brought up before, I could not find any sort of information on anyone asking questions pertaining to the speed sensor issue and correcting it with HP. If there is any information I missed due to poor searching, a link would be much appreciated!

If they are in fact a roush authorized dealer they can call roush and and get a voucher code from them to flash the Pcm with the Roush Diagnostic Tool Software if a updated flash available from them. If they flash it with IDS its going to put factory cals back in the pcm. I believe the table locations ford is making the changes for the fail safe strategy for loss of OSS signal is not accessible through vcm suite.

The source of the downshifting issue is in the lead frame. Specifically the connection to solenoids/valve body.

Ford's programming is just a programming "fix" for a known hardware flaw.

If you replace the lead frame, the updated part has a foam insulator to isolate the connection from debris. From my understanding and experience this is the actual fix.

I'm not an expert. Did a lot of searching and reading when my trans started randomly downshifting and going into limp mode. I replaced the lead frame and the issue hasn't returned. I am also tuned and have no intention of getting ford's programming "fix".
