2015 CM2350 situation

A local has a 2015 68RFe truck. He bought it used and it came with an AutoCal, had an EFILive CSp4 OS. He was happy with how the truck ran. However, the VGT died and he thought he could fix the issue. So he read out the (EFILive) file and modified it in HPT. Supposedly the truck ran fine, however, it became a single tune file. Someone helped him convert the HPT file to SotF, he flashed the truck and now has a dead truck.

I set up the ECM with my BenchForce gig and tried to complete an OBD read with EFILive, no ECM found. I then opened HPT and tried to read the ECM, no product detected.

Can the ECM be recovered? Or is the ECM dead?

I tried to force flash a stock file for the truck on to the ECM on a bench with EFILive and was not able to. If this ECM cannot be recovered, sounds like a replacement ECM will be necessary.
