Gen 2 3.5 Ecoboost Base File

As a thanks to forum members for everything I have learned over the past year on here, figured I would share a file that I consider a "base" tune. I have used these changes as starting points on multiple gen 2 3.5 Ecoboost engines at this point for over a year and have had great success. A lot of this is loosely based on things I learned through The Tuning School as well as talking to some other pros. So sharing this file for those looking for where to start on one of these. This particular file is built off a 2018 Expedition, so may have to make some tweaks to make it work on your F150.

Trans. base tune is included as well.

Even though spark is not changed a whole lot, I would still run 91 octane plus on this file for safety.

Enjoy, and feel free to critique. That's what this forum should all be about anyways. GM side of HPT shares a lot more files than this Ford side and I hope to change that.

Beatty, send me your stock file and I?ll take a look at that and the log tomorrow while I?m at work. Might be short shifting if you have something other than a 18. Ford changes some axis tables around 2020ish that can change some stuff.

Here ya go Beatty, made some changes, just FYI on 2020 and up stuff, you can't just copy and paste over everything as the PCM and TCM are integrated on 2020 and up and not separate computers, so the best way to make big changes is through a template applicator.

I added 5 PSI to your base shifts and applied a few other changes throughout the tune, this is about as good a base file your gonna get without paying the big bucks lol

Feel free to email me at [email protected] with a datalog and any other questions. I wouldn't mind having your base stock read as well to make sure the changes I made are good with your stock file.

Sorry I?m away from my laptop, I will send that stuff over tonight along with the file I ended up with. I did not copy and paste, I went through each change 1 by 1 but I could have missed something. Or like you said there could be something missing since it?s a 2020. I appreciate your time and work on this, it feels like a completely different truck. I?ll send some logs, I have a long highway drive with some hills and stuff in there as well.

A disclaimer for other people wanting to try these changes!

DO NOT just try to flash this file to your F150 or Raptor. There are OS differences between the F150/Raptors and the Expeditions. You "can" copy and paste from my tune into yours, but pay special attention to your axis tables. If the axis tables aren't exactly the same, you can't just copy and paste or paste differences in a compare file. The only vehicles I can guarantee you wouldn't have issues with copying over would be other 2018 Expeditions. Remember, Ford integrated the PCM and TCM some time in 2019 and 2020, doing away with the separate TCM that was frame mounted. With this came changes to how the programming and OS was set up as well.

No. Gen 1 are quite a bit different than this. Have you ever tuned before? Ecoboost is one of the more challenging platforms to learn on if you never have.

Any chance you can help me make this compatible with a 2017 F-150? I am just starting out and trying to find the right direction.

Upload a copy of your stock file and I can build you a starter file based on this. It?s just a starter. If you want more you gotta pay. But it?ll give ya an idea of what to look for.

Before you do anything, though, you?re gonna wanna make sure your truck is up-to-date from the Ford dealer. With that being a first model year, there?s a ton of updates that have come out. You don?t wanna build your base file off of an early OS.
