Reading Gone Wrong "???????" as a Vin

    2000 Mustang GT auto car

So I hooked up my ol SCT handheld and returned my car back to stock because I just got a mvpi3 and I am ready to progress away from handhelds.

When I first hooked up my mvpi3 it read my cars vin but unfortunately the vin ended in SCT! so I figured why not do it the correct way and return the car back to stock so my VIN would license.

Well now that i returned my tune back to stock with the handheld when I go to VCM Suite and read the car it only reads "?????????????" for the vin and when I continue to say "yes generate a vin" it asks me to save the file then the editor is blank.. I cannot read flash or do anything. Sucks. If anyone has input that would be great. I read up some old forum posts for some Chevy guys having issues with their pcms and this was caused...

open a support ticket. Unfortunately this is not something that can be fixed via forum assistance.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

This is totally normal. Many EEC vehicles do not have a VIN stored. When SCT programs them, for the purposes of marrying the device to the car.... they have to generate a unique VIN. This prevents you from being able to flash another car with the same file.

We do the exact same thing. When there is no VIN already there, we will program one.
