A full time Tuning shop told me??

A full time Tuning shop told me today: ? VCM Editor does not work well with the tricore tc17xx processor
and does not allow editing some important areas even when using xdf files and user defined functions?.

Is this an accurate statement? Can anyone confirm or deny this?

    Sounds inaccurate to me.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I don't know if tricore or whatever has anything to do with it, but I can tell you I have a Tricore in my MED17.7.3 and HP cannot squeeze full power from it. In order to get full power I have to load another tune on the car first, then use HP to read that and tune from there.
Took me a looong time to figure this out btw. I don't know what the tuned file has in it that HP cannot see, I just know it's there and it is very important.
If I didn't have the tuned version to tinker with I suppose I'd never know why I can't make full power and would probably still be wasting time chasing it.

Maybe Bill can explain why my car seems to have the exact problem you describe. Even if unrelated to your problem, it is a problem.

Did you put in a support ticket for the issue? If not please do so, unfortunately this isn't something that can be fixed via forum.

Level of support is going to differ from specific application to the next also. I mostly mess with simos18 which is TC1791 and last time I checked, nothing you'd want to edit is blocked by user defined parameters or anything like that. Table support is decent, logging is slow, but that's partly due to what services are implemented on the ecu itself.
