have ecm flashed to newest stock operating system via tech 2, read, license & tune away.

Best of both worlds, you get the newest operating system available for your application & you only pay 2 credits to license.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Except he said it would cost him $200 to have it SPS flashed.

Sorry, but we aren't going to recommend you take someone elses file to flash to the vehicle, this will result in consuming additional credits and very often creates more issues than it fixes which is why we don't recommend it.

With a probable corrupted serial number that can't be licensed except with a $300 model year cost.

Asking you to recommend doing it and is it doable and does it work on old P01 and P59s are two different things.

There is nothing I can see that you can't. Pick a file and open it. Open a different file as a compare file. Then View Comparison Log. Maybe you meant to ask the other guy.

Little more than 99 bucks but you get what you pay for. Used, vin programmed.

Well yeah a reman is used too. When they look like that with a non OEM label they are remans. I would bet it also has a corrupted serial that looks like yyyyyyyyy There are plenty of threads on here about people buying remans and can't do an individual VIN license on them because of the serial. I have even encountered them in the last 20 years of doing this.

You can with the newer software builds. Some of the REALLY old software cannot do single vcm licenses on them.

Here is a csv with the tables that are different. I would probably recommend tuning from the file you already have vs updating.
