MPVI3 - No vehicle power detected

Used my MPVI3 interface to download a tune to a E38 pcm/LS3 swap into a 1969 Camaro. I was able to Read/Write with no issues. Then I moved the car after closing down the VCM editor. Tried to reconnect using the VCM Scanner and noticed the green light on the MPVI3 was not on until I plugged it into the laptop. Turned the vehicle to on, and tried to connect. I resyn'd the device and did a firmware update but still didn't connect. checked on my 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD same problem. I have a Snap On Solus Ultra that connects and reads the ECM with no problem and measured the voltage between pin 16 and pin 4 on the OBDII connector and it read 12.3 V with ignition on, engine off. I have already submitted a ticket this evening.

    Anyone have similar issues?

I am having the same issue. I was able to read files from my Cts V and from my 94 G30 with a Lq4 swap. I was data logging with the V no problem. I went to do data logging on the g30 and it worked for a few minutes then acted like it had lost connection. I checked power to the obd port and its reading 12.6v with ignition on. I put the mpvi3 into my V and it will not connect to it now either. Green light does not turn on when only hooked to vehicle, but will turn on when connected to pc.

Only issues ive been having is if you plug it into the car first then the computer, it wont detect it at all, so i have to connect it to my computer, wait for green light then tune, i think its an mpvi3 thing cause my 2 wont ever do that

Did some troubleshooting with HP Tuners support this week and ended up sending it back for them to check out the MPVI3 hardware.

I fought that too with my bench connection. Found the can bus wires need 120 ohm resistor installed across the serial wires Can H and Can L. Then it worked.

I did check the resistance on my CAN network and it was reading 60.3 ohms. I got info back from HP Tuners Support and they said there was some issue with the hardware. They did not elaborate but said they were sending a replacement out within hours of receiving the device. After confirming my address, the device is back and they returned it UPS Next Day Air. I was impressed with the turnaround time. I just hope it doesn't happen again after the warranty period expires.

HP Tuners Support response: "It was an issue with the interface not anything you were doing."

I'm having same problem. I purchased the MPVI3 back in August, used it one time. Two months later go to use it and no power when hooked up to my car or just the laptop. Is there an issue with the MPVI3 and should I by the MPVI2 instead? David how is your replacement one doing?

Update: I have had the replacement MPVI3 for about 2 weeks and I have had no issues so far. When mine failed, the green light on the MPVI3 device did not light up WITHOUT the USB cable connected to the laptop as if did before it quit working. I will say HP Tuners stood behind their product and returned the replacement device to me lightning fast.

Awesome, glad to hear you are back up and running!
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
