    All Hope Lost?

    Is all Hope lost for Subaru tuning with HPT. I'm trying to convert a car over from a cobb with flex Fuel to run with HP now. things have changed and it needs to be calibrated. It just seems like nothing works within the software. Injector issues, Codes being on even when disabled, Flex fuel signature issues. One second the car idles fine with normal fuel trims, next start it will hardly idle. Can switch back to cobb map or open source and car works fine(minus wot which is what needs to be adjusted). Really like the vcm scanner for logging. Based on some of the forums i read HPT looked promising but after 4hrs of tuning and hardly having a start up map i'm fairly disappointed. the car isn't a street car but we don't want to swap the dash and harness with all the added expense going to a standalone. its also nice having the sport switch for different throttle maps through the factory ecu.

    I have now seen some more recent posts of issues similar to mine. Anyone having any luck?

    HP Tuners just doesn't handle Subaru ECUs as well, especially when it comes to flex fuel, injector scaling, and features like the sport switch for throttle maps. The problems you're seeing with idle, fuel trims, and codes not disabling are likely due to mismatches in how HP Tuners handles those parameters.
    Since the car runs fine on the Cobb map(s), the hardware’s likely good, and the issue is with the HP Tuners calibration. Your best bet is to compare the Cobb tune and HP Tuners map, focusing on injector scaling, flex fuel, and idle settings. If HP Tuners keeps causing issues, you might want to stick with Cobb or open-source tuning for actual calibration and use HP Tuners just for logging. Trying to force HP Tuners to do what it’s not great at with Subaru ECUs could end up wasting more of your time. ECUTEK is a good alternative if you want to use something else other than Cobb!

    Thats what I'm noticing. I use Hp For GM, Dodge, and Ford and it seems very polished. The Tables appear to be there for Subaru but actual Functionality appears to be lacking. The car has TGV and a catless downpipe. It isn't a Plated vehicle and maybe sees 200-500 miles a year for very testing or to break in a clutch. Flex Fuel isn't a absolute necessity as we only use to convert to gas for the winter storage months but its also nice to have it be able to just switch from fuel to fuel without flashing. I haven't found a open source file that supports LC, FFS, and flex fuel yet. I have rom files and XML Definitions for earlier cars with open source that support those features. I was just hoping and being wishful. Lesson learned today for myself and for many of my customers....
