Advice on tuning cammed ly7 ve commodore
New to the forum and pretty interested to get into tuning, and wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction to get started.
I?ve got a cammed ve with a cpr6 n a few other things and I?ve gotten someone else to tune it, but they don?t do v6?s really at all there mainly focused on ls?s, and a cammed v6 ly7 they?d probably never see. It made 176kw atw which isn?t rlly much compared to other ones I?ve seen.
I just want to try and learn and spend the time to make a good street tune, and also when my car warms up and drops to 750rpm it dosent sound cammed anymore, and I?m hoping I can maybe fix that.
But yeah what would I need to get started tuning it? Cheers

Post your tune and maybe a log so we can see.
In general, you'll want to adjust the air models/fueling (MAF and VVE) first. To tune WOT you'll need a WB (wideband) O2 sensor because the factory sensors (if they're narrowband) can't measure much beyond stoich (14.7:1 AFR), and when you go WOT the engine goes into power enrichment (PE) mode which adds more fuel for more power/cooling, so you'll need a WB to see what your AFR is during PE.
You'll also need to know your cam specs, so reach out to the cam manufacturer if you don't have the cam cards. Knowing when the valves open and close is important - for example, you'll want to know that you're not starting fuel injection while the exhaust valves are still open. Tuning the variable valve timing (VVT) is fairly straight-forward, and if your cams have the same centerline as the stock cams then the VVT profile (cam angle vs. RPM) of the aftermarket cams will probably be similar to the stock tune.
Ignition timing/spark can also be adjusted if the stock/current tune is for 87 octane, for example, and you're going to be using a higher octane; can probably benefit from adding a few degrees of timing (advancing) in the WOT areas (High Octane table). Just keep an eye on Knock when playing with spark tables.
Edit: had to double check, looks like the LY7 is port injection? In that case I think you're more concerned with end of injection (EOI) as opposed to start of injection (SOI). Not an expert on the subject, but I think you want injection to end by 180 BTDC if you can help it.
