will not ask to license

I bought a new mpvi 3 and its loaded with 2 credits. I did all the resync and updates to it. When I got to license my file for my 2003 chev 4x4 I normally get the ask to license but in this case it just says controller unlicensed. I normally just try to write and the option to license pops up but not this time. Any ideas?

Mpvi3 works good to read and scan. The current file I am trying to write and license is a 2 bar operating system...is this the reason? Do I need to try and write the original read from the pcm which will then promt the license activation? I will try that when I get home otherwise I am open to options..

Where did the 2 bar OS come from? It is my understanding, if you downloaded some random 2 bar OS from even another mostly identical PCM and it has already been licensed, which it would have been to change it to a 2 bar OS, things are gonna go sideways. You need to license the original read from the PCM and then make it a 2 bar OS through HPT.

When you change the OS, do not make any other changes to the .HPT until you save it as a new name and re-open it. Once that is done you can tune to your hearts content and load it into the PCM as a write entire the first time. After that, each consecutive config. change can be done as a write calibration only.

the 2 bar was built from this exact truck with my mpvi2. My friend bought the mpvi3 for his truck so he can tune and scan himself now so my mpvi2 is still licensed for it but his needs the original file which I do have so I believe this should work. Will post my results. thanks for the tips!

Well I tried to license the stock read file and it still says " unlicensed vehicle " It will not promt to the license screen whatsoever. The mpvi3 has 2 credits on it. I tried to license my 2000 4x4 silverado which is stock and same thing. I guess I need to submit a ticket?

Yes, unless one of the pro's step in and have an idea. Either way, I would start the ticket now.
