    2017 VW Passat ECM identification?

Hi, this is my first time trying to tune a VW car with HPT. 2017 VW Passat with the 1.8t. The ECM OS is 06K906071BJ_4891 SIMOS 18.1/18.6 ECM, VAG
The car is getting a little bigger turbo compared with the OEM (said the mechanic who is working in the car)

First I tried to read the ECM, HPT asked the laptop for internet and it showed a pop up message telling something about getting a stock downloaded file from the internet. I did it without problem.

Now when I open the file in the engine>general tab appears 2.0 liter instead of 1.8. and now I have 2 main questions:

    1. is it safe to modify and write a file that maybe is not 100% compatible with the current car configuration? don?t want to mess with the VAG electronics know to be picky.
    2. What are the main points on reviewing taking into consideration the bigger turbo compared to stock?

    Thanks in advance!

Nearly the same boat as you except I have a 2016 and my first flash, it had to do an operation system update. Do you have the A6 or DSG transmission?

I have extensively used HPTuners in the past (talking 15 years ago) with GM products and holy shit, this is well beyond MAF tables, VE tables, and spark advance + power enrichment. I maxed out very few torque management settings in the tq management tabs. Aside from that, I haven't touched anything else.

I have been slowly testing the cause and effects with torque management to increase boost slowly. I am seeing around 190kpa (13psi) now vs 160kpa (~10psi) stock on the 2-3 shift at 6400 rpm. All I have is a CTS intake at this point.

Hi Bruce. I don't really know the trans type on this car but my guess is towards an A6.

My main concern is about the auto generated hpt file. As you can see in my screenshots, it says 2.0l instead of 1.8l.
Did you have the same difference on main engine tab?
Thanks for the boost/tq mgmt input. I'll check it and let you know.

I'm fairly certain that is how that table is in the stock calibration...for whatever reason.

Is this CRPA engine? I'm looking at another CPRA file and it's also showing 2.0L

Safe to modify, but I think you'll struggle to get it really dialed in well on a larger turbo with current HPT support. There's no real way to datalog the axis values of the WG feedforward tables, so it's hard/impossible to get that dialed in.

    What part of FL?

Typo in my post, I meant CPRA. So it is CPRA? Not sure what you mean by "non". That's what that box code advertises as supported engine code.. just another sanity check that all is correct.

I would not go beyond "stage 1" with an A6. There's a reason why APR etc. don't make stage 2 for the A6 Passats - the transmission won't hold the power. I plan on going with a catted downpipe and GFB diverter valve while I'm in there and being done with it as far as bolt ons go. I have been slowly removing torque management, upped Max PR to 4 and increased the timing a few degrees and its already woke my Passat up with just the CTS intake.

sorry for the late reply, but I've been working on other stuff lately. I'll be back at you later this week with the right coding. I'm not a VAG expert at all.

Thanks a lot for the input. This Passat is only getting a few touches on the calibration to compensate for the added hw. I'll share my findings later this week. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply. But I was investigating before tuning this one. I did the system update and the car has a DSG transmission. I feel you about whole tables. I'm used to tune GM and some other domestic stuff. This is way beyond that. I'm seeing up to 28psi of intake manifold momentary pressure but not sure if that's an accurate reading. Also I'm getting electronic pressure control codes that throws me an EPC light and the power goes like a protected mode. Customer is working on resolving the mechanical issues.

Yes. It is a CPRA engine. My bad.

Does anyone know if wastegate adaptation on scanner must be key on engine off or key on engine idling up op temp?

Attached is my last iteration.stg1 Turbo v4.hpt feel free to take a look.
