I am looking to change the vin number inside a tune file, is this possible? What I mean by this is I got a tune with the weight loss program and I?m trying to install this on my truck but it has a different vin in the tune than what?s in my truck. I don?t want to change my trucks vin. Thanks for the help.
I can change the VIN if you send or post the file, BUT are you sure the tune is compatible with your truck?
If the file is compatible, why not just change the tables in your original to match?
The weight loss. Just make sure all your OS and segments match as to not brick. Generally frowned up on as you know to write another vehicles calibration into a different vehicle.
Lenny, If you change the vin in the tune file, do you still have to license the file AND the truck?

Just changing the VIN does not allow you to flash the file to another truck without paying for additional credits. The file also has the ECU serial number. Let me know if you need help
changing the vin is the least of your problems when i comes to tuning your truck. With GM the OS is critical. If the OS is different then your current, its not going to work correctly. your going to throw check engine light, and some things will not work like seat heaters, ac, it just causes problems. if your looking to tune your truck with hp tuners and get the results your looking for, you should order a tune from powerstroke customs or someone that will do it correctly for you.
Eh some rather learn it. Its just another tool and when you get good at it, comes in damn handy if you're a gear head

My apologies for the late response I haven't been around my computer. The OS and segments all match in both files. So I think I am ok there. Is there any other issues I should be looking for? Also I would prefer to change the file myself but I am having a hard time understanding how to define my own tables in Tuner Pro, does anyone have any insight into this? I have already taken my original read file and compiled it into a bin file. But I need a definition file to use tuner pro correct? I am fairly fluent in reading and writing code but not much experience in definition files. I appreciate all your responses!
If you have taken a hpt file and converted it to bin, the offsets will be wrong
That is what I did. Is there a better way I can get bin file out of my ecm?
