    2014 Cadillac CTS-V SPORT V6 tune tips

I am posting over here because of the gen 4/5 controller.

I am currently trying to tune my V Sport to get over the 18psi boost hump. I have been at it going back and forth with file revisions, moving this maxing that, pulling here adding there and the end result is always the same. As soon as I get over 18.xx desired boost drops. Anything over 18 psi at around 4500 rpms will get me around 460ish delivered TQ which also seems to be a hard limit. I have been messing with the VT numbers to give me some room there. I have a feeling there's a limit coming from the trans which I can not tune.

I dont think I want to run the stock turbos much over 20 psi. I am just trying to figure out how to get the boost over the 18 psi hump for when I install the larger turbos.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is a freshly loaded tune. The KR starts settling down the more I drive. This timing has been safe with KR around 1.5 or less once settled in.

You're right in the change over zones of the knock airmass torque management table for the turbo's. Might try upping that then trying again.

I will try raising it more. I did have them lower and the result was the same.

Those are designed so that when it sees the varying knock - i.e (-1, -4 or whatever) it will then limit the max cylinder airmass to what's in those corresponding cells to try and protect the motor by pulling boost out. If you're sure it's not knocking you can also try adjusting the knock sensitivity. Either way you don't want to lower them... To make it try to keep the boost and corresponding higher airmass, then you need to raise those values preferably higher than the cylinder airmass you're seeing.

I got you. I think part of the problem is I didn't raise it after the -1 column.

I did raise the -4 and did a couple logs. I will have to double check my VT, but I think it is giving me what I want. There is a lot of timing being pulled initially as usual (past the -4 column). I need a few more pulls so it can settle down so I can see what's actual and what is being pulled because VT is too low. Its definitely at cam angles I haven't tuned for.[

I still cant get past the 465ish del. tq. limit around 4400 rpms. Currently I just go in the VT and dial back the areas that are exceeding the number. It just doesn't feel right doing it that way.

You'll have to post the latest so we can see if anything is jumping out. Log too. Try to log tq sources and any boost regulated items.

This one is a mess, but it has the limit shown.

Watch your torque source, torque command and predicted command. Those appear to be pointing to the DD without seeing the tune.

You aren't logging enough to run it through the DD tool, but after looking at the tune I'm going to say it's still trying to control boost. Take a look under airflow - TC. There's still a few settings in there for max VE, pressure ratio and so on that need to be raised. Otherwise it looks like it might be trying to limit throttle to aid in controlling things. Might even try baby stepping those since it's close to where you want it already.

I dont 100% understand the TURBO MAX VE table. It is raised from factory though. I just spent the last hour on google and search function trying to get more info.

I moved the limits on the airflow-tc tab and definitely getting over 20psi now. The issue now is that it is showing 460+ tq in multiple places instead of just one. Something is fighting HARD to keep it under so the throttle is opening and closing over and over.

Take a look at all of your torque limits everywhere including DD. Set your boost controls up to control boost better as that sounds like the main problem. Pay attention to your P and I controllers for boost. You'll need it to probably hit a little harder. You'll have to work through all of the tables. Compare to tq being shown and what's in the models in those areas. If it's too low then you may need to raise those a little.

I haven't personally adjusted a newer turbo controlled car. Going off of gen 4 experiences on this, so if someone knows the ins and outs then hopefully they can help too. I do know you need to log more for the DD tool to work.

Other than this new issue of the MAX TQ falling off to 0 since the boost has been upped, the only time I hit a limit is when the TQ gets above 460ish.

I have had the TQ settings in the 500s all the way to the 700s and still cant pin point the issue. It is more pronounced now that I can get more boost across the board. I will keep looking. How long does the pull have to be for the DD tool to work?

You have to make sure you're logging the right things. That was the problem the last time I looked at yours. You were missing load for sure. I still think it can't control the boost and is why its doing what it is but it could be d d or whatever too.

I spent some time bumping as many torque tables as I could find up including the driver demand tables, messed with the min timing table, low octane table whatever else I could think of. It felt better but still fighting.

I am at a point where I wonder if I need to tune the VT properly to see if the 460ish limit is something I was hitting before because I hadn't tuned the rest of it to get past that point.

Anyways, longer pull. Went from 2nd to top of 4th.
