    Colorado 3.7 I5 to V8 Swap

Helping somebody with something I have never done before. Have a Colorado that used to have a 3.7 I5, swapped out to a 2009 4.8 V8. He ended up with a ECM from a 2012 Colorado that had a 3.7 I5 as well. Am I going to be able to make this E67 ECM control a V8 ? There is some conflicting information in regards to whether or not this will work. I don't want to unlock this ECU unless I know for certain it will work. As he can still return it if it wont work for this application. Thanks for any reply's.

Wrong service number to be able to put a V8 Colorado calibration in it, which you can't do anyway if your only tool is HP Tuners.

HP tuners is my only tool. I don't have access to GM SPS. What should I recommend he gets for a ECU that will run this setup ? What will have the correct service number ? Either way it will have to be flashed with SPS i am gathering

You can buy used ECMs pre-SPSed with any VIN you give the seller. They are all over ebay. Go to any one of the clone GM parts houses (gmpartsdirect.com, gmpartsgiant.com, etc.), put in the VIN from whatever tune file you'd like it to have, look up the service number that year/make/model/VIN is supposed to take. Then search ebay for that service number plus something like "VIN" or "programmed".

Well he went and purchased a different computer from a tuner shop. This thing still wont run properly. It will start up and die, as if the VATS is still enabled. Although it all seems to be disabled. The engine ran with the original computer, idle was high and ran on only five cylinders I believe. We're getting codes for the throttle pedal and throttle body not agreeing with each other now. As far as I know that is all controlled through the OS in a gen 4 PCM and HP Tuners cant touch that end of it. Am I missing something here ? Was this computer set up correctly to run a V8 in a colorado ? I'm thinking not, although I am not that familiar with this kind of swap. Any help would be appreciated.
