03/04 cobra tuning questions'

So my buddy has a 70 maverick with a 03 cobra swap in it. Computer has had vats delete and a mild tune. We think was done with sct. Problem is when trying
To read the stock file with Mpvi2 it says interface not found. So we tried mpvi3 it prompts us for a vin. Entered vin and it recognizes the vin from the donor car.
But fails to read the file. Im confused????
