Where Is The Best Place To Buy an ECM? 2013 Charger R/T

I am at the end of my rope trying to solve a misfire on #8 which only happens after three or four WOT highway speed mashings if done within a short period of each other where I kick down a gear and wind her out a bit..
No valve train or compression issues. Swapping coil pack, spark plugs, and injector to the other bank does not move the the issue.
Only PO308 code is tossed. Wiring harness checks out.

Sometimes it will run rough, but 95% of the time its just the code. If running rough, I can turn the car off and back on again and it will run smooth, I can clear the code before or after or later it don't matter.

I want to try an ECM replacement. I need a trustworthy source that will program my VIN to it and anything else required. I take it I would then back it up and flash my tune onto it?

    Thanks

Thanks. What will they think of me flashing my supercharger calibration on it? Warranty voided?

    dunno...

usually people who supercharged a hemi are not concerned with the warranty for a $200 box

Copy that. I ordered one this AM. I've never did a ECM swap.

Is it as easy and backing up my current tune, disconnect battery, swap them out, reconnect battery, turn the key to on and do a full read backup of the new ECM, then do a full write of my modded tune?

    Thanks

if yer modded tune is from a pcm with a different serial number (or a different os revision) you will not be able to write your old tune to the new pcm

vin serial number and revision gotta match

if not, it wont even start to write

Hmm ... I have two PCMs with different part numbers (the original from my 2023 Durango and a spare I bought out of a 2021 Grand Cherokee), and I've written the same tune file to each without issue.

They are GPEC2a PCMs though, and I did have HP Tuners unlock both of them .... and sent them my stock OEM read file for the unlock of the donor. So maybe that allows me to write the same tune files to either PCM without issue?

If you can't write the tune though, I suppose you could create a template file with all tune categories checked, and then write that to the new PCM.

TOOLS -> TEMPLATE EDITOR -> NEW FILE -> SELECT PARAMETERS TO IMPORT

Then check all the boxes (except for the OS box maybe?) and save the template file. You should then be able to apply the template to the new PCM and transfer everything over.

EDIT: Oh, never mind ... I just tried this and the template functionality is limited to 1000 parameters. So I guess you'd have to make several templates and apply them one at a time to use this method.

all the different operating systems will not work in all the different jpec2 controllers

that is why it is recommended to use the same part number when flashing and replacing a controller

there may be many part numbers that will work with his os but do you know what they are?

    i do not

Many Thanks. In saying it will not write, do you mean absolutely, or will I at least be able to enter settings manually?

Not sure, I just used online Chrysler parts websites to check the part numbers I was considering for a donor PCM, to see if they were compatible with my VIN.

Certainly using the same would be preferable, and for a 2013 MY, should be easy enough to source. My vehicle was new enough at the time where I couldn't find the same part number though, so had to go with a different one.

Thanks Guys Finally got a tracking number. I'll let you guys know soon.

Given it lets me copy to backup and write, is it as easy as?:
    • Backup current tune
    • Swap ECM
    • Backup Replacement stock tune.
    • Write current tune
    • See if she will start

    Thanks

I'm in a similar situation myself with a 2013 Ram 1500 that needs an ECM Replaced. The guy I've been doing remote tuning with has been ghosting me so I'm having trouble finding answers. Any chance you could offer some guidance?
    Any help is appreciated.

years ago my wallet was $550 lighter and after just a few revisions my remote tuner threw his hands in the air and said: "What do you think i am.. an internet hemi mechanic?"

my 2016 shaker was practically brand new (<10k miles) and he was certain the trans was toast - blocked me cuz i wouldn't pull it back out and send it and $6t500 to his trans guy

today i get my used pcm's from flagshipOne

there is another company, OEMAutoParts.com if flagship does not have the part number that i need

with your controller being a early GPEC2 you may have to look around

was your remote tuner tuning it with HPT?

do you have a copy of the stock read?

My case is the driver for Cyl 8 was bad in the PCM. After three or more WOT runs it would misfire #8. Most of the time it would still run fine but show the code. When it did run rough a key cycle cleared the miss but not the code. I always have an OBDLink dongle with me and clear the code at 1st opportunity.
All efforts to make sure it was not a cam and or lifter issue was done previous.

    I got a Flagship PCM
    1. Read the New PCM.
    2. Did a Compare of new PCM file read with my tune file in VCM Editor.
    3. Copied over the changes to the new PCM file.
    4. Wrote the new file to the new PCM.

    Fixed.
