How good is the HPT support of turbo control? I know some of the features are there by default, but do it work? ie. can i do wastegate control with the stock truck ECU? Or do i need a external controller?

I'm sure then are a million ways to trigger a solenoid to control boost. I'm not aware how to "control" boost off factory computer. Also have to think that would be much harder then a good controller.
Will_974 is the only I know who's gone down this road. Think he figured it out, but don't know the specifics. Also think an AM boost controller isn't that hard to install or dial in along with the bov springs.

okay, thanks for the great info. I will see if im gooing down that road or the blower road.. ive read stock L83 can take 10psi ish, can any confirm/deny that?
It can take 12 PSI just fine with a lt4 injectors and high pressure fuel pump. You're also going to need an in tank and a better flowing check valve. Supply feed and good building and holding rail pressure is going to be key that way each cylinder is getting the same fuel. Now I can't speak for the bottom end of the motor all that well that's kind of hit and miss and how well the engine's been taken care of. Like these newer 5.3's don't seem to hold up all that well at all bearing wise.

Thanks, makes sense! I will contact will if I'm Gooing forward with this, i just want more low end so it's gonna be tiny turbos if anything.
My l83 is from 2018 iirc
Alot of my work with factory boost control has been with the supercharger version, which is more of a boost disable than a 'control' signal.
I dabbled in the turbo controlling mechanisms, but did not go very far into it.
(take all the following with a bucket of salt, and don't proceed unless its a vehicle that can sit)
I suspect first step with this is to wire up the E92 to receive the correct pressure sensors. For this, I would reference a Caddy ATS V which came with a 3.6L V6 Turbo (and E92). You will need to mimic the wiring of all the AAP sensors. From this, we should be able to enable the necessary sensor config switch, and then the turbo controlling routines.
If you get it to this point, I can work with you to locate and define anything that is missing in the background to control one using factory turbo controls.
