Question Mustang 5.0 2019 Whipple Stage 1 - TQ Based Decel in WOT

    Hello!

I would like to kindly ask for your help with Whipple Stage 1 calibration - this is the one received from Whipple and flashed with RTD device.

Today I did a test run and when everything seemed to be fine, I just went WOT on 4th gear (sport mode in transmission) and at mid range RPM it just lost the power. Then I did WOT in 5th gear - the same again.

It threw the TQ Based Decel source and now I'm looking for the reason - could someone please help me in this case? I wrote to Whipple, however I assume that I'll need to wait longer than receiving support from this Forum.

Car details: Mustang 5.0 2019 AT, Whipple Stage 1, this kit: https://whipplesuperchargers.com/i-1...2018-2021.html.

    Calibration: STOCK_WHIPPLE.hpt
    Log: whipple1.hpl

    Best Regards!

The problem that sticks out like a sore thumb is that the accelerator pedal is only going to 60-61%. WOT start/end is 70-90%, PE is triggered at 60, and OP is 50% of less. You have to floor it or it won't trigger everything that's supposed to happen at WOT. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised the throttle blade is going all the way open at only 60% pedal.

Edit: Looks like the 2 app PIDs are reading differently. Even if it's going off the higher one, it's still only going to 80%. Does this car have one of those throttle enhancers devices on it?

    Thanks for the answer!

I did pedal to the metal.

I will check if something is attached to the pedal sensor. I?m not aware about any enhancers installed in this car. Also I didn?t see anything near the throttle during set installation.

The throttle is opening all the way though mike, the angle looks to be at 85 degrees. You're definitely hitting the exhaust temp limit. Might want to up those, could be causing this issue altogether.

The throttle is wide open but it’s trying to use spark to decelerate. I’ve never seen cat protect cause the torque source to be torque based decel.

If you look at the sustained TR limit, the DFSO limit, and the spark delta model, it looks like 6-7 deg is all it will allow. There is a huge variation between the 2 app signals, so I'm only guessing that the higher of the two is far enough into the WOT start/end that it's pushing the blade open. That or the calculated throttle area is still over the max the stock TB can do, so it pushes it wide open just for that reason. Either way, I've bet getting the APP to 90+ % fixes the issue.

Thank you all for the answers and participation I was able to solve this issue - it was GPF related, I needed to turn off the torque limiter for it. Now it runs like a beast!

PS - Whipple support is really good
