So to start off i picked up a 2013 manual ats with the ltg engine. Ive been tuning for about 10 years now and this is somewhat complicated then most ecus ive tuned in the past. So i put in alot of reading on the forum here to learn. I started with my vve table then maf so the fueling is very close within 2 to 6%. Then upped the driver demand since it was closing the tb. Next thing i did was look over the factory timing table and noticed how peaky and choppy it is so i couldnt help but smooth it out. I then noticed was these engines like to kr quite a bit even when its false. I pulled timing only to find that i made it worse and they like more timing then what the stock timing tables provide. I upped it to 4degrees. That made a big difference in false knock maybe 1 to 2 degrees here and there but no more at wot anymore. I leaned out the pe and comanded 11.9 since it was in the low 10s high 9s in factory form verified from my wideband. Now since i upped the boost up to roughly 17 to 18psi and timing around 8 im getting and audible ping but the ecu did no pick up in the logs, which i then pulled timing back down to 4. No more knock or pinging. Now from what ive read in the forum i should be closer to the mid to high teens for timing before hearing or seeing any kr. Maybe its because im completely stock minus the muffler delete and intake silencer delete and 1 step colder plugs. Im just looking for more insight, i can attach a log or tune file if needed. Oh another thing i noticed was i was seeing alot of advice on turning up the knockairmass which ive left untouched. Which on my 14 cruze helped out alot on making more boost. What kind of boost can you get out of the stock turbo on the LTG engine before more mods are needed?
