    LTG Timing

So to start off i picked up a 2013 manual ats with the ltg engine. Ive been tuning for about 10 years now and this is somewhat complicated then most ecus ive tuned in the past. So i put in alot of reading on the forum here to learn. I started with my vve table then maf so the fueling is very close within 2 to 6%. Then upped the driver demand since it was closing the tb. Next thing i did was look over the factory timing table and noticed how peaky and choppy it is so i couldnt help but smooth it out. I then noticed was these engines like to kr quite a bit even when its false. I pulled timing only to find that i made it worse and they like more timing then what the stock timing tables provide. I upped it to 4degrees. That made a big difference in false knock maybe 1 to 2 degrees here and there but no more at wot anymore. I leaned out the pe and comanded 11.9 since it was in the low 10s high 9s in factory form verified from my wideband. Now since i upped the boost up to roughly 17 to 18psi and timing around 8 im getting and audible ping but the ecu did no pick up in the logs, which i then pulled timing back down to 4. No more knock or pinging. Now from what ive read in the forum i should be closer to the mid to high teens for timing before hearing or seeing any kr. Maybe its because im completely stock minus the muffler delete and intake silencer delete and 1 step colder plugs. Im just looking for more insight, i can attach a log or tune file if needed. Oh another thing i noticed was i was seeing alot of advice on turning up the knockairmass which ive left untouched. Which on my 14 cruze helped out alot on making more boost. What kind of boost can you get out of the stock turbo on the LTG engine before more mods are needed?

i believe that's possible with cars that are running e85, as you need to add quite a bit of timing to make those run better, i highly doubt you will be able to run that timing on a mostly stock 93/91 octane car

What kind of boost can you get out of the stock turbo on the LTG engine before more mods are needed?
Im not 100% sure, but i believe its around 24 PSI max, im doing around 22psi holding pretty well with 4-6 deg of timing increased in some areas (from stock/smoothed out), im cai, catless dp, 2step colder plugs and i get very light false kr at some high rpm gear shifts, around .5-1 max but i still dont plan on pushing that untill i get a bigger turbo. i want to say maybe around 20 psi is a good number to reach for with what you have.

and there are some threads on knock airmass and how to tune that, i might have them bookmarked lmk if you want those.
if you need any more help just pm me

what will modding the knock airmass table do? Does it add boost? Im also at 3 to 4 degrees running well, little to no kr wot. I only plan on raising it to 20 to 22psi should make a pretty fun dd. Im going to be installing a zzp down pipe and getting rid of the second cat. Might get the intake tube not the cai.

The table is pretty self explanatory, but for the sake of simplicity just think of it as desensitizing your knock sensors a tad bit, dont overdo it by making them not pick up anything but there is a tiny bit you can freely open up, if you dont know if its too much just share your tune here ill look at it when i have time.
    Does it add boost?
not by itself, it does however allow you to add more boost which the engine wouldn't allow prior to adjusting this table

that sounds good should free up the turbo a bit
