2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Trans tuning

Hi I'm new to tuning and am trying to change the shift scheduling on this ecodiesel. I am trying to move the shift points down but am only getting small differences not even close to where I'm trying for. I know what I have set at now is too low but was just trying to get it to change. I am also getting a really weird shift on the 5-6. I only read the TCM as there is a delete tune in the ECM from someone else and it said it needed to be updated to read and I don't want to mess up that tune. If someone has some tips would be great!

Are you changing the correct tables?
How low do you want to go?
    Any modification in the truck?

Yes on my data log it gives the shift id and i changed those tables unless theres something different you have to change with the accel factor. Wanted to try shifting at 3500 rpm at wot. only mods are a delete and engine tune and larger wheels.

Hey I've heard you need to license both ECM and TCM on the Ecodiesel to be able to make changes on just the TCM. Is that true?

by vehicle i meant = serial number of pcm of said vehicle

licensing that serial number to the interface does not require any writing...

    Shift Calculator for ZF8

    Here's a shift calculator I made for the ZF8
Currently setup for a Hemi, but if you verify your gear ratios and set the rpm limits where you want it'll make some nice shift schedules.

Thanks Lilsick, also have you ever tried to use HPT on a Ecodiesel or any Ecu/Tcu that has been tuned by a PowerGate 2 or 3 handheld device? I have a tune already installed, I got it primarily to have Manual shifting enabled via the + - buttons on the steering wheel, but the shift schedule is horrible and lugs the engine if i don't intervene in certain scenarios. I've been wanting to use HPT to correct some shift points but a little worried to use it on a Ecu/Tcu that has been tuned by another device that it may potentially cause issues or even Brick the TCM and I haven't heard of anyone else doing this before.

    no, i have not

i would be surprised if the licensing with hpt was any different tho

but although i do not have any experience with that controller, i agree... i too would be leary of flashing it with a second software

i wouldn't do anything until the PCM read was visable!

The power gate will fault if you change the tune in hp and then reconnect the power gate . You are supposed to flash back to stock with the PG , change the tune with HPT and then resync the hpt modified Tcu with the PG again

Yea I know, The idea was to move away from the PowerGate bc the ppl i bought it from wont do any calibration changes even tho the only change i want is to the shift points bc of how bad it lugs in certain situations. But i also don't want to unmarry the PG Bc this file enables Manual shifting instead of Electronic Range Select. Hpt as it is now will not allow you to enable Autostick unless i would've used HPT from the start.

Are you Familiar with using the Powergate software and loading files onto the handheld devices? I have a question about getting an old file i have on a PG2 back on my truck, but the company i bought it from can no longer help me with any tuning related services.

Hey I used that and it worked great thanks! I wasn't adjusting the downshift tables like I should have been was my problem. So with these ecodiesels at least on this one I only had to license the tcm not the truck so 4 credits only. Thanks guys!
