    Pcm vin change question

I have a 2000 c3500 that I bought with out a motor or PCM. This truck was a diesel before.
? I spoke with the dmv and im alowed to swap with a 7.4l cause that was one of the options for that year and they will change the title and I'm good to go there but my issue is this.
I put in a 7.4l I had out of my old 2000 c3500 but I did not have a pcm from that truck. I got a pcm from a friend of mine but that pcm was out of a 99 c3500 with the 7.4l. No big deal except I have to deal with emissions in my state so when they plug in everything is good but the vin so can I change that with the vin wizard and be done or what are my options for that

At one time HPT would not let you create a VIN/OS mismatch. (pairing a 2000 VIN with a 1999 OS) I don't know if that has changes with the newer version software and licensing. It may have. There are other tuning options in the market that would let you do that. I know you can license a VIN/OS mismatch now with HPT.

I know it's supported per the web site but I'm also seeing people that said they had to buy two licenses to do so but nothing I find says you can or can't do the 2000 to 99. I know the operating system is the same and they both use the same pcm part number. Hopefully someone knows a for sure answer or can point me to the right place to do so. I just don't want to drop a bunch of money and get nothing

If you post the file and the vin you need in it, someone may be able to change the vin, then you could see if hpt will license it.

Are you sure about that? Typically two different model years will not use the same OS number.

You asked whether you can use the vin wizard. Why don't you try it and see what happens? Worse that can happen is a mismatch error.

The pcm numbers are the same it's the vin attached to the pcm that's different. 96-2000 used the same pcm code for the 7.4l motor

Try PCM Hammer. It shouldn't give a damn about putting any arbitrary VIN number on it.
