Scanner question, new to HPT but not new to tuning

My math channel is not working.
    - I know that the input(s) to my math channel must be listed in the channel list for it to work.
    - I have a PID ID in the math channel setup.
    - There are no PIDs in the channel list

Problem: I am having trouble conclusively verifying that my channel list item is the one selected in my math channel. There are many options, therefore I am not confident that I matched the correct ones to collect data in the channel list.

I am working on a 2009 Ford Ranger, no HPT credit support for this PCM (Oakwood?).
I am as interested to learn how to diagnosis HPT issues as I am interested in fixing the issue.

When building your math, any variables NOT in your channel list will show up red. Also, when building your math, when adding a variable there is a selection to display only PIDs that are already in your channel list.

I followed up on the information provided by JtbickZ. Thanks for the response JtbickZ.
    - The comment about red highlighted channels shown in the bottom window of Math Channels was helpful, this window does show PIDs.
    - Is there a way to add the PIDs to the channel lines within the Channel window?
    - When I click on the Channel window, Add Channels button, I can see the PID selected at the bottom.
Two areas where I would think would be helpful to everyone.
    - When adding a new channel to the math channel in the Math window or adding a channel to the Channels window, in both cases no PIDs are displayed.
    - I do see that once a channel is added in the Math window the PID is then shown to the left of it.
Summary; The above observations just may be what it is and I can deal with that, or I may be missing a setup feature or tip that can be of help to me to see the PIDs or to help me select the correct one.
