    2011 Silverado 5.3 LS

I'm new to HP tuners, I need help. I purchased the HP Tuner setup to be able to tune my new motor, keeping VVT and deleting DOD/AFM.
With the HP Tuner will I be able to tune the transmission as well without buying new credits? I bought what was recommended for my truck.
Is there help/videos/tunes to be able to help out, so I don't wont destroy the new motor?

New Cam - XFI RPM HI-LIFT 210/224 Hydraulic Roller Cam for GM LS GEN IV w/ VVT
New Phaser - Cam Phaser Limiter Kit for '09+ GM GEN IV LS and '14+ GM GEN V LT1
    Cam Specs:
    Engine: LS-Series w/ VVT, w/out AFM
    RPM Range: 1500 to 6600
    Camshaft Type: Hydraulic Roller
    Intake Valve Lift: 0.556 in.
    Exhaust Valve Lift: 0.568 in.
    Advertised Intake Duration: 263 deg.
    Advertised Exhaust Duration: 277 deg.
    Intake Duration @ .050": 210 deg.
    Exhaust Duration @ .050": 224 deg.
    Lobe Separation: 114 deg.

Thanks for all the help in advance...

You will just need the 2 credits from HPT for that year.. It will do your engine and transmission.
You'll need to do some research yourself to get that engine running Mostly in the idle/airflow tables
You prob would be best to buy a startup tune from someone and then work on it from there.
With the info given it looks like you are just looking for a free tune from someone and that' prob why you
    haven't gotten any replies

Thanks Tfoggy, I appreciate the reply and guidance, that's what the forum was made for...

I don't want anything free or asked for anything free. If people assume, then that's on them, I hope they don't have catastrophic motor failure. I made my thread post clear ---> "Is there help/videos/tunes to be able to help out, so I don't wont destroy the new motor?" Maybe I could have been a little more specific, LOL...
I posted cam specs because I know from being an old school motor builder that's very important. I'm looking for where I need to edit in tune software for my cam and any other adjustments I would need to do to get motor running initially.

I was looking for walk thru or video on steps to learn how to tune. I was able to find the GM 6L80 101 transmission video, which explained plus gave me information I desperately need. That's what I am looking for.

I can pay for a tune and get it updated after saving a diagnostic scan and sending it to them. But that still wont explain what was done and what I am looking at.
If anyone knows of videos on basic how to tune, I would greatly appreciate it.
I will be getting my tuner package in a couple days and will be experimenting on the original ECM flash to learn...

I also was wondering with the HP Tuner after flashing, can the ECM be locked so it cant be flashed again without the HP Tuner?

You tube will be your friend, google "How to ..." and loads of info. will appear.

    Read things like this: https://forum.hptuners.com/showthrea...e-(w-pictures)

There are platform specific school type courses out there from people like Jeff Evans https://www.evans-tuning.com/evans-performance-academy If you want to learn to do it yourself, places like this are a good place to start, although, be prepared, it's not something you learn/pickup in a couple days, it will take a huge commitment of time and brain power. If you want to soft commit, you can pay one of the pro's here to modify your stock file to get you started and you will be able to compare your original file to the file they produce for you and learn a little from that also.

As far as not wanting to destroy your new combo., keep this in mind, right now you don't know what you don't know so do not go out and stand on the loud pedal until you understand how to walk your way up the tuning ladder.

One and done, hire someone to tune it for you. A new hobby that will eat up a lot of time and energy (lots and lots of time), tune it yourself.

ABC - Thanks, I did, been looking at videos since my last post...
The thread has a lot of info, started on it...
I am working on it now, I will get it tuned and work with the tuner emailing my flashes until its dialed in...

GTSTOREY - Thanks. One and done I wish LOL, from what I was told I need to send in a cam spec and more info so they can email me the first flash, then run a scan, send it to them and they will email flash to dial it in.

I had already thought about comparing tunes, to see what exactly was done and learn that way I can understand more. As far as time I have plenty but I did notice, it is a lot of it! LOL. Brain power to the rescue... LOL
As far as getting someone to mod my stock flash? Who can? What's going rate?
Thanks for the info and replies, its what I was looking for...

Does anyone know: I also was wondering with the HP Tuner after flashing, can the ECM be locked so it cant be flashed again without the HP Tuner?

Tuning these and doing a good job is a pretty complicated thing. As far as I know there is no one place where this info is collected. If I was only doing one I'd likely hire remote tuner and observe the process and try to understand it that way.

I'll give you an example. I have a new RAM truck. I can tune it.. should be equipped to do so having been a tuner for GM stuff for 23 years. But I have no interest in spending so much time figuring out how they work just to do that one truck. Perhaps if I had a ton of free time.

Alvin - Thank you. I understand, but sometimes knowledge is vital. I love learning and gaining knowledge. I made a decision to pay for the tune since the person said they will guide me thru what to after initial tune is sent.

By one and done, I mean one vehicle tuned. Multiple iterations on the tune are normal/expected. If you aren't interested in learning to tune as hobby, hire someone. Alvin can get you set up.
