    Out of curiousity...

    It may be a dumb question, or rather, one with no answer. My question is, is there a code or anything stamped on the GenIII V8's for the factory for which they were produced? Im not familiar with casting numbers, and if it is a digit in the number or something, could someone tell me where the casting number is on the block? Thanks!

    the engine number is on the right side front of the block and starts with VF.

    eg.

    VF 05 190 4500

    VF = GenIII
    05 = year
    190 = julian date (ie. 190th day of the year)
    4500 = sequence #

    there is no plant identifier in there afaik.

    cool thanks. that number...you say right side front. Does that mean right behind all the accessories(alternator and such) please say no...lol
