To fix or not to fix a hacked up tune

    LM7 5.3 With 243 Heads
    Stock Injectors/Fuel
    214/220 .600/.600 112+2
    Hot air intake
    1-3/4" LT Headers
    4L80E -3000Stall
    3.23 Gears
    265/70/18's

Had a new customer stop by and he was complaining that his truck doesn't run that great.
Read the tune off and here is what he paid $400 for.

Compared it to a stock tune and it looks like it was a copy/paste tune cause things were changed that don't make much sense. For instance, Fuel sender to volume changes and just added 7g/s to idle air and added 20-24% to VE.. Low Octane higher than high octane?
And those overspeed/underspeed tables are hilarious.
Quick idle datalog showed timing was ranging from -8 to 44*.

I don't understand how folks can charge for 3 minute tunes.

Here is a car I did this week. I drive everything before I start just to catch problems people are dumping on me. It drove perfect.. So much so I thought I had put a base tune in it. It's very common for us to give a tune to someone and they come in later to have it finished in person/dyno.

This is what I pulled out. Complete shit show. But the car did drive nice.

For other people to understand why the file Alvin posted, is so bad. The RAF is ridiculously high, the VE is hacked, MAF is questionable, the spark over/under is way too aggressive. It would be nice to see the idle AF adapts to see how hacked they are also.

If it looks like trash, start over but keep the trash for reference in case something was right. maybe the VE was the one thing decent. (I didn't look at tune.)

Normally the injector data is way off throwing the rest of the tune off.

I drove the truck for about 5 miles. While it does crank and run and idle. as soon as TC starts adding air you have to start pressing on the brake unless you want to get up to 45mph without any throttle input haha.
The transmission tune was a ways off and shifted terrible.

Told him to come back next week and we can start over for him.

Sometimes these hacks can get a OK driving car. But this way of hacking at the tune won't be consistent/carry over to the next car and often comes with stories like "he had my car for 3 months" or the file name says REV 66 or something like that.
