Buick Enclave TCC Shudder 6T70 / 6T75 Transmission

    Hello all.

I have a 2016 Buick Enclave (3.6L with 6T75 transmission) that has developed a torque converter shudder. The shudder happens in lower speeds, light acceleration, and under load (going up hill). I replaced the valve body and installed some instant shudder fix fluid additive (friction modifier), The shudder is about 50% better, but still most definitely there.

My tuning experience is very basic (turn off VATS and DOD etc.)

I?d like to possibly turn TCC lock off in gears 1-4 and only allow it in 5 and 6. Also, in 5 and 6, reduce the slip to zero or near zero for a more on/off traditional engagement and disengagement.

I?ve been doing some research on tuning the TCC and found this thread:
    https://forum.hptuners.com/showthrea...Mobile-1-fluid

My hope is that RussK will see this and graciously take a look and work some magic like he did on the thread I linked above.

Russ, if you see this, I?ll gladly compensate you for your time.

Stock tune from the vehicle should be attached.

    Cheers.

Turning off the TCC is really easy. Just open the transmission tab and go to torque converter. Click the apply/release tab and in the left hand corner just click the apply and release tables for normal. Change the mph settings to 186 like it already is for 1st gear. And that's it for turning off the converter for gears 2-4.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

Try these TCC settings. Not sure if you have a tow/haul mode switch.

Thank you very much Russ. I loaded the file into the car today. I'll test it out when I drive it to work this weekend.

Another big shout out to Russ! Thank you sir!

I uploaded the transmission (tune) settings from Russ and have been driving the vehicle back and forth to work (60 miles round trip) the past few days. My TCC shudder is gone and all of the upshifts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) are smooth!

My only comment, and it is minor, is regarding a couple downshifts. The downshift from 6 to 5 is a little harsh. Example, if I’m going 65mph in 6th, when I press the accelerator to pass or speed up, the downshift from 6 to 5 has a noticeable jerk.

Also, very similar to this, the shift from 5 to 4 is a little harsh (but not as bad as 6 to 5). Example, if I’m going 45mph in 5th, when I press the accelerator to speed up, the downshift from 5 to 4 has a slight jerk.

Since the TCC now only engages in 5th or 6th, I assume the harshness/jerk I am feeling is the TCC disengaging with no slip?

If something can be done to fine tune this without bringing the TCC shudder back, great, if not, I will live with this over the TCC shudder any day of the week!

Thanks again Russ! You were a huge help.

    P.S. I do not have a tow/haul switch.

I didn't change anything other than the TCC settings. The harsh downshifts might relearn after driving for a while.

Glad the TCC isn't slipping anymore.

Besides shudder, did you have a shift flare on the up shift from 2 to 3?

I own a 2018 GMC Acadia Denali (AWD with tow package) and I occasionally get some slip shifting from 2 to 3. I believe it?s called flare.

I?m thinking of buying HP Tuners. I?m comfortable with cars and computers, I just haven?t tuned a transmission before.

Would this be a shift speed change? Pressure change? Or is this TCC related too?

If I should start my own thread I will.

    Thanks
    Brian

Transmission Fluid and Adaptations Reset. If you haven?t already, consider a full transmission fluid change with Mobil 1 LV ATF HP or another Dexron HP equivalent.slope
After tuning, perform a "TCC Reset & Fast Learn" in HP Tuners to help the TCM adapt to new settings.
