How to Slow Down a 6.4 Scat Pack?

My 14YO son has been drag racing our 5.7 Magnum in a new class called NHRA Junior Street for a year. It is an 1/8 mile class that is limited to 9.0sec as the quickest you can run/dial. This year, we want to run our 16 Charger Scat Pack; I think it will be more fun and more consistent. I will need to detune it to run 9.0 or slower which I assume is about half a second. The car is currently stock except for a low temp thermostat and I tuned the radiator fans for the stat. We will be going to a test session later this month and I am looking for suggestions for the easiest tuning mods to slow this car down at least .5sec that we can try. I am planning to try launching in 2nd gear; I know that will slow it down some but not enough. Another thing I can try is adjusting the trans shift scheduling so that it short shifts. Any other detune ideas?

you are starting with the wrong car but if you are dead set on using a gen 3 hemi and a fly by wire throttle i can help you make it cut consistent lights and run 9 flat

    index racing is my specialty

have won multiple top gas (5.10 index) national championships

you could always use the WOT Pedal Torque Multiplier (Black Key): Maximum torque multiplier for Black Key mode. setting to limit power in 1 click and see how it does. :0

Oh right. Been a long day…

What values have you tried in that table?

I have never messed with it

I actually thought it was a reference for valet mode

    Is it not?

I would slow that car down the way I slow all the others down - with spark and with throttle

I have played with it on a Hellcat on the dyno and it was consistent, two tables on the Scat one is labeled Valet other Black Key, 1.000 is full power reduce from there to achieve power output.

    Thanks for the replies.
I'm not aware of a red key for scat packs, just a black key. Mine is a 2016 and just has 1 stock power level(485HP) as far as I know. I'm trying to make this easy at the track and just have 1 or 2 tunes to use that run around 9sec. If it runs 9.10's or .20's thats totally fine too. This car is just for "fun" between rounds with our other race cars. My son runs a jr dragster and I also run a big car.
Sounds like I will need to retard WOT timing and maybe clip the throttle over a certain rpm?

    its got a valet mode

i would not do it this way but if this is the route you go leave the black at 1.0 and have him run the car in valet

    its adjustable in the tune

better ways to do it and like i said before, easier cars to cut a light and run a consistent low nine in

Don, forgive my ignorance, I cannot find the table you are referring to in the tune. I attached a copy of the tune.
I also don't see any way to activate valet mode in the car infotainment or referenced in the owners manual. Maybe valet mode came out on later models?

open the performance pages app or push super trac pack button

it should be next to race options

my scat is a 2016 as well but i have messed with the BCM with alpha so it might be different for you

    Ok, I'll check that out.
Can you tell me where in the tune I can find the table or parameters for valet mode so I can modify? I cant find it. Thanks so much.

Why not just keep it simple and only adjust speed limiter?
