So what am I missing????? Thanks

basically anything pre 2015ish the ecm controlled the transmission as well so in our case I believe we support 96-2014ish where the ecm controls the transmission(description for simplicity sake), then in 2015 they started using a separate tcm to control the transmission so the description where it says most Dodge vehicles... is correct because most do.

No. You have a 2019 application which uses a pcm & tcm as I believe I stated earlier.

I gotta admit, I am still confused by all this, lol. The last tuning I did was 20 years ago, using Accel DFI (anyone remember that?) and since it was manual transmission ('68 BB Camaro with Muncie 4-speed), there was no trans tuning issue.

I got some info from another forum, and the guy gave me two tips about the TCM in my truck:
    1) It is unlocked from the factory and all I need to tune it is to buy 4 credits, and,
    2) My TCM is physically located in the transmission.

    Are these two tips accurate?

Also, when Purchasing a new Dodge PCM, there is a spot that asks for HPT or RTD Files. What do those acronyms mean, and will I need both, or just one of them?

    Many thanks

yes both are accurate - it requires 4 credits to write to the tcm which is located inside the zf8 valve body.

buy a dongle and read the controllers that are in your truck...

when you save the file its name will end with .hpt

both pcm and tcm reads will be on that file and you will need to send it to hp tuners before they can unlock any used controller you send them

or to flash any new controller that they have there

if you want some help setting this all up send me a dm

.hpt is our file format from an MPVI device using our vcm editor software.

Yes you'll need to provide us with your vehicles .hpt file when purchasing a new ecm from us.

Will do, thanks. Just ordered the MPVI3, 6 Credits and a Dodge 2018+ Smart Access cable...... $811.49

Will be purchasing new Dodge PCM/ECM once I get hold of that .hpt file.
