Can you please specify which 'this' you are referring to? Been a lot of 'thises' so far.

If you mean the file with the Silverado segment, and it still has the same issue with that file, then you have a wiring problem since it didn't change (or, you need to shit or get off the pot, and choose aftermarket standalone trinary switch control, or ECM control, not a little of this and a little of that).

I appreciate your input, but let me state again. This is a custom wiring harness made by SpearTech. They program the ECU and test run the harness on an engine. We have done dozens of LS conversions with this set up and wiring. The SpearTech fan wires are as previously stated , Fan #1 and Fan#2. They are negative ground triggering wires, so as to use relays. Bypassing the trinary switch the fans turn on, but not off until the key is turned off. The VCM scanner CAN turn the fans on and off, so it shows the wiring to be correct, and that the E38 is sending the proper signal.. Does it NOT??. I can not tell you with 100% accuracy what pin number the fan grounding wires are.
As for the "thisis". they are referenced to each question asked before that answer. Need to follow the conversation. I've tried every file that has been offered to no avail. Same story. Fan come on, but do not turn off.

Is there a way to run a diagnostic on the E38 ECM itself

Talk to the people who sold it to you, then.

if you offering to help, then help. I don't need sarcasm, keep your thoughts to yourself. We are all equal and deserve respect. At least that is the way I was raised.
God bless you. I hope you find inner peace.

I had the exact same issue as you. Fan comes on but never turns off. I solved it by adding a VSS signal to the ECU. Once that signal was present, fans worked as expected.

I'm pretty sure I have a VSS signal wired into the Dakota Digital box and that is connected to the ECM via BIM cable from Dakota Digital. My tuner adjusted the rear axle ratio and tire size, etc and the speedometer works.

I'm new to the HP tuners, but is there a way in the VCM scanner to check if I'm getting a good signal??

Thank you very much for your input.

bonedoc56, I took a look at your tune file and there are differences between how my fans are configured and how yours are configured. It may be worth adjusting a few settings.

In VCM Editor, hit System, then hit Fans

    These are what I have:

May be worth updating your settings to match these as close as possible to see if it makes a difference. You can always revert back to your previous tune.

Perhaps a wiring diagram of how you got all this going with trinary might help.

At the very least probe your ECM triggers and see for sure they are not turning back off after being on.

    will give it a try.
Question. everyone is asking for a diagram of how I wired the fans with the trinary switch. I have a picture in my picture area on my computer, but no matter what I di I can not get it to download. I can download a "tune" file, but not this picture.

    Are you running 2 fans?

He has a 4L80E, we'd assume VSS is working if his 4L80E is shifting properly. I'm changing VSS to REPTOS, maybe that'll work??? See attached tune file again to test. Do a write calibration on the ECM only please.

no matter what I do I can not get the images small enough to download on to the forum. In SpearTech website the show the diagrams. I tried even compressing the file but can not get them under 1.91
    to load

https://www.speartech.com/Articles.asp?ID=258, then the trigger wire is connected to the trinary.

The above is for fan wiring
The below if when wiring into trinary switch. Trinary is just a ground override. I believe that Bonedoc has already stated he's unhooked the trinary switch and is still plagued with the issue. Bonedoc should try my file. I'm not used to seeing a FAN stuck on at all with the tune I sent you. It's certainly possible the computer is bad but I would have no known way to really test it here since I can't get our shop engines up to that temperature.

    NEW question:
I've seen it stated on this forum that some fans will not turn off at idle, so as to keep them from cycling on and off while at a stand still. Does anyone know if this is true?, or how to tell, or at what speed needs to be achieved to turn the fans off? Or was what I read just a bunch of C__P.

I have stated this and even specified on which controllers this option is activated.

And on the verge of the fourth page of this thread there is still no log...
