Dodge 2018+ Smart Access cable - how to install

    2019 RAM 1500 5th Gen 5.7L Laramie Longhorn

I have a MPVI3 on the way, and also a Dodge 2018+ Smart Access cable. I've Googled for install instructions for this cable, but not seeing anything for my particular truck. Can anyone point me in right direction to find installation help? Or by any chance, are installation instructions included with the cable??????

    Many thanks

Quick question which I'm sure you know. When I install that cable (assuming I did not do any tuning at all) will I still be able to pass my State Emissions (Rhode Island) testing?

    Thanks

The smart access cable as no effect on the vehicle, driveability or emissions testing.

    Heya Bill,

I got the smart access cable and am trying to install it. The Support Ticket said the security module was behind the radio screen, so I removed that unit. There is a black box back there (see attached pic), so I removed that, thinking it was the security module. But there is no plug on it that resembles your smart access cable, so there must be another location?? I have looked around in that area behind the radio and don't see anything else where your cable might go. Can you help me possibly? Thanks

Could they possibly have sent me the wrong cable for my particular truck?

2019 RAM 1500 (5th Gen) Laramie Longhorn 5.7L with the 12" Harmon Kardon system
    VIN # 1C6SRFKT1KN567081

EDIT: I FOUND THE SECURITY MODULE. It's located to the left of steering column close to the front of the dash, two plugs no tools required. Took one minute to swap your cable into place. Please tell your support guys. Thanks.

Yes, exactly in that area. No tools or dis-assembly needed. A flashlight and one or two minutes, that's it.

If I was your support guys, I would recommend that anyone with a RAM truck look in that area first before removing the radio. I was lucky not to break anything R&Ring the radio, but it was still a big waste of time. However, I do know for a fact, there are some RAM's with the security module behind the radio.........

    Thanks for the reply

The sales rep did reference it in the email he sent you and support does reference it in every email about these applications.

With that said I'm glad you found it and wish you a great weekend!
