L86 dead, wanting to swap in a L8P

    Hi,
As mentioned in the title my L86 lost oil pressure and seized.

I had just did the DOD delete about 1 year ago.

Now I want to swap in a L8P (performance variant of the L8T)

What do i need to be aware of? I know the engine drops in there. Does anyone know if it works with the 8speed transmission?
Does the L8T fit the 8speed or does it need a different flex plate? I believe it should be the same as the L8T

Do all my current electronics work and just need reprogramming?

I already have mpvi3 and have already tuned my truck, will i need any more credits?

    Thanks!
    Patrice

Use your stock ECM, use your flex plate off the l86, use your stock engine harness including the fuel rail harnesses and the stock fuel pressure sensor at the end of the driver fuel rail. You?re good to go

    Awesome!!
    Thanks TrkNrrs!!!
This is the information i was looking for!! Wanted to make sure this works before actually doing it! I was looking for flex plate details and torque converter.
Is my current torque converter compatible?
I was thinking of changing it out but just because I feel it will help.
    I tow a camper occasionally.
Just waiting on the backorder l8p now.
    Thanks again!!

Converter is compatible, but if you want the most performance out of it down low I?d do atleast a gen 3 ctsV converter or zl1. And honestly if you don?t feel like waiting months on in, just get an L8t and a btr 225 cam package. My brother just made 545whp with that setup on e85 in his 2016 Silverado with speed engineering long tubes, lt2 intake manifold, GM performance cold air. BUT you will definitely need atleast a 3500rpm stall to be able to launch it.

I have found some good prices on used l8t
Thinking of going the route your brother went.
Do you know how this would pull a big camper with the 3500rpm stall?
    Thanks again

We use our trucks just to raise hell and burn rubber lol as far as useful towing with the converters I can not honestly speak on.

Hello, if I swap the L8P engine into my L86 truck will it require any modifications to the 8 speed transmission or flex plate and will I need to reprogram the current ECM to be compatible with the new engine?

Just use your flex plate off your l86 engine. And yes your ECM will need to be tuned.
