Also one thing i had a question on. After making the changes to the ve table in the editor and writing the tune to the truck do i then go into the scanner and imidiatly turn on the fuel trim reset with the truck running? and do i leave the fuel trim reset to on? or is that all done with the truck off?

You are using the manifold pressure sensor voltage channel, should be the manifold pressure in KPA channel, and it might reset the trims when the PCM reboots after the write, but it is good practice to click the reset trims under the bi-directional scanner functions

i sure thank you, i figured that out earlier.. I did 4 or 5 runs in the mode you sugested, did the edits over to the ve table and shes way better on the ltft and st trims. no more big numbers any where!
I guess my next step is MAF tuning i suppose? Sounds like the same deal as this SD tuning except i disable the dynamic part and enable the maf. Still Using the ltft and Maf chart to do the logging and changes

I'm very new to all of this as well. Soaking up as much as I can. Why run this in SD vs MAF if it's not FI?

I’m new as well but from my research these gen 3 ls run a combo of sd and maf depending on the conditions met. I plan to let mine run as factory (maf and dynamic enabled) so I’m tuning both best I can

I'm so confused. i'll be the first to admit my little brain cannot comprehend this.

Some have given you data to delete MAF, which is easy to do but you're still running it?

I disabled the maf so I could tune dynamic, now I’m going to disable dynamic so I can tune maf. Once that’s done I will enable both so the truck can run off both systems as intended

You disable the MAF so the PCM only references the VE table (or VVE in gen4+). Then you use the fuel trims or a wideband to collect O2 data and alter the VE table based on the data collected. After a few iterations and you're within 3-5% error range, you can re-enable the MAF and disable the VE table so the only air so the only values used to calculate the air model are from the MAF. You do the same thing, collect data at steady state, change the MAF table based on that data, retest. Always make sure to clear all fuel trims before you cllect any data. If you don't, the data will be skewed and not useable.

Alternatively, once you're done, you can re-enable Dynamic air (MAF and VE) or run in MAF only or in SD (speed density) only.

There are pro's and con's to both systems depending on what your setup is on the vehicle.

Here's a few good links that will help with the process. These links are also all over the forum.
