    Relinking Vats

Hey guys, hopefully someone has done this before. My buddy replaced his steering column and pcm (stolen out of his truck), and i tuned his new pcm with no vats so the truck would start, it's runnin fine, i tuned it to get it runnin better, but the security ligt is still on, i would imagine i should "relink vats" right? would that solve that problem? Also, i am trying to change his vin to match the truck, the truck is a 2002 and i'm tryin to change it to a 2001 vin, but it seems that it wont let me, it said not the same OS or VCM or something. Any ideas, i'm goin over to his house tonight, will the RELINK VATS work?

As long as the PCM has his VIN plate number in it then VATs should re-link. If not you will need a Tech2 or do the 30 minute VATS relearn procedure.

Well it's an '02 truck with an '01 pcm, so i tried to rewrite the vin and it said wrong OS or something, so that's probably why. I told the guy that if he gets and '02 pcm then i think the relink would work

IF the PCM has an 01 VIN in his 02 truck that's the problem.

that's what i thought. Although when i did relink the vats it said it completed, that's why i was wondering if it actually worked. I knew it, but i just wanted to hear it from someone who knew. Thanks.
