I currently have V 2.1.16 installed on my laptop, but I no longer have access to the cable/interface.

I am going to order a Pro setup for my personal use, but I am wondering if I have to reload all the software, and lose my saved files, or will the existing software recognize a new cable and application key and allow me to access my older info?

Thanks for any help in what may appear to be a very simple question.

You'll be able to use your saved hpt/hpl files but you'll need to completely uninstall & delete any old software files since your application key & serial number will be completely different.

Wouln't re-pinging the hardware fix the issue? Unless of course he has the older serial interface?

I'm curious about this re-pinging thing you mention, if you have any more info.
Would that be like connecting the new cable and hitting that "info" icon to read the interface?

He should be able to change his app key & reping his hardware, I've never tested it though so I can't give an exact how to
