Security Access Denied (Still a problem)

I've searched and read back though all the previous posts related to this subject. I've done everything suggested multiple times with no luck. I can tune other C6 Corvettes including a new Z06 the other day with no issues.

    Data:

    • I have a tuner package with no licensing issues for the vehicle.
    • Vehicle is a 2005 Corvette LS2
    • Car was previous tuned with EFILive on 04/2006.
    • There is definately NO TUNERLOCK on the PCM.The shop that did the tune (ECS) did NOT LOCK it.
    • I waited longer than 15 secs before attempting to just READ ENTIRE. I haven't even tried to WRITE yet as I am not even able to READ it.
    • Scanner works fine and I can read any data with the scanner including DTC's and reset them
    • I tried a different USB cable in a different port
    • I tried connecting things in a different sequence

So unless I missed the solution in another post, any help would be appreciated. This is the ONLY vehicle I have ever had this problem with.

Can you post a screenshot of the first error you get ie invalid security codes or whatever it happens to be as well as a vcm suite infolog while connected to the vehicle(remember to delete your serial number & app key from the infolog before publicly posting it). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Usually the Security access denied errors mean its been tunerlocked.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I wasn't able to catch the first error but it read as:

Security Access Denied - Invalid Security Code

Then the final error message (after counting down 12 seconds to try again is the one in the screenshot attached.

I spoke with the prior tuner directly. They have NEVER locked a PCM And don't believe in it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Hopefully we can resolve this ASAP.

Looks like they flashed in a file that was never available for this vin.

I checked the Vin against TIS http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

And the operating system number 12596660 was never issued by GM for that Vin. Thats probably why our system is recognizing it as tunerlocked.

IF you have access to a tech 2 you might be able to flash in a valid stock file for that vin number & should be able to read it out just fine.

I can easily do that but then I would lose all the custom tuning done by ECS for the Supercharger and other goodies.

Additionally, I'd like to understand why so I don't run into this problem again.

My feeling is they might've applied a patch or something whether for the maf or lower thermo settings with efilive which ultimately converts it to a custom operating system which ultimately is a tunerlock and will not allow our software to read the file out. So they might not have intentionally locked it but because of the patches did thats my best guess. Either way you would need to flash it to a valid operating system for that Vin in the end.

I appreciate the quick help. Although it's not what I was hoping for it at least unveils a mystery. I hate mysteries.

Why doesn't HP Tuners just patch the system to allow unmatched OS values to be opened or something to that effect?

That sounds like the best answer besides selling the HPT and buying EFI Live.

Theres no patch to do, if its a custom operating system or tunerlocked there no way our system will be able to decipher what they did & vice versa, if efilive tries to read out one of our custom operating systems it will fail when trying to open it. The ONLY fix is to have the original tuner unlock the pcm or set it back to a completely stock operating system.
