Has any tuned for economy for 4.2 I6?

Most of the posts I have read are about squeezing more power out. How about fuel economy?

I am still learning alot and have been reading a ton of postings.

I figure if I can pull an extra mile per gallon on my daily driver (trailblazer), it would pay for the software and wide band O2 setup (that I want) within 90K miles (16 vs 17 mpg).

I would like to have one tune for max economy for daily use and another tune for when I need to pull a boat or something of that nature.

    Thanks

Post your tune and a log of a 20 minute freeway drive at your normal speeds using cruise control. Someone will jump in with a suggestion

well u have to keep two things in mind when thinking about fuel economy...

1st. What is economy, saving as much gas a possible
2nd. How much do you want to pay for your gas? The least the more economical.

If you've read about PE on the forums, you'll know its the way the computer adds extra fuel to the A/F mix to richen things up for more bang (in most cases more power)

Make sure your truck NEVER runs into PE mode and also adjust your higher/lower spark tables to those that would not cause any knock retard with the gas you fill up with...

    Hope this helps

this is a stock file yes?

first things first, get rid of ALL TM... our I6s don't produce enough power to destroy the 450hp rated 4L60Es unless ur pulling stupid manouvres such as 3rd into 1st and flooring

and increase that TOP SPEED!!! there's a sticky at the top of the I6 section on how to remove it

Stock tune. yes. I have 90K miles on it so far.

I will start with those adjustments.

I did recall that my mileage when it is really hot outside, say 90°F plus, I can usually pull 19 mpg+. I will have to check out how the air temp is reading.

I logged a freeway drive this morning. Not sure which variables to choose so I left it pretty much defaults.

    Attachment 8452

Does anyone know how to do a mileage with the 4.2 I6? I was going to use the PID posted in fuel economy but the 4.2 I6 does not have some of the required parameters.

    Thanks. Still learning
