OK I have used the hp software for over 8yrs, on many cars to view, a few to tune. Came to a new situation today, Car is an 08 pontiac grand prix 3800, was bought at auction as a wreck (no key). Car would not do a key learn so I was called to disable vats and make it run before more money was invested. when connecting it brought up the vin, and car info but not the controller or os, had a drop down but the ones i tried all failed. Is this a known issue on some cars, or a red flag to a damaged pcm? I do remember it is a p05 number but no internet where the car is and all I do remember from back of pcm.

    Thanks

    You can't tune 2008 model year grand prix's with the 3.8 V6.

That computer is a year only controller that uses can-bus, it was never supported because GM axed the grand prix in 2009 and Pontiac altogether in 2010. Only the LS4 V8 computer is supported.

2008 was the first year with CAN-BUS and the only year on that model, was not worth the time to invest for them to support it.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

MPVI2 is our tuning product https://www.hptuners.com/product/mpvi2/
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
