    HP Tuner Hardware Versions?

If I were to buy an HP 'Tuner' from a person I know (non-pro version) would the version of the actual hardware matter? Like say the scanner/flasher thing is 2 years old: could I still use the new software with it? And would it have any limitations compared to a new one?

Thank you guys so much! This is my first post

Yes you can use the software right from the customer login page at www.hptuners.com
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Is it the USB or serial interface? The latest software is compatible with either but you would not be able to tune some vehicles with the serial interface (EG: Gen 4 LSx's).

USB & Serial interfaces use completely different software & is not compatible.

When you order today, you get:

    - OBD-II cable to plug into your diagnostic port
    - USB HPTuner Box (Standard ($499) or Pro($649))
    - 8 credits to use towards licensing any vehicles or Custom OS you want
    - USB Cable for your laptop

You do not get the serial version anymore, the USB replaced it. You only need one cable to tune all the vehicles HPTuners supports.

If you've already loaded hptuners onto your pc it sounds like you need to assign hptuners to be the program that will open .bin & .hpt files.

try saving the file to your desktop, open hptuners, then click file-open & open the file you saved to your desktop.
