    Air Pump Question

Looking at my stock bin, the Air Pump Disable Coolant Temp is set to 36 degrees F. I'm assuming this means my Air Pump will turn off once my coolant gets up to 36 degrees. Which is strange considering where I live in CA, regardless of season, the weather never gets that cold. Does this mean my Air Pump never turns on?

Also, is there any advantage to turning off my EGR?

    Thanks,

    Re: Air Pump Question

I'm guessing the air pump is a truck thing? I guess I can always just unplug it and delete the DTC. On another note, does anyone know if this is smog equipment? Thanks.

    Re: Air Pump Question

Is the temperature Deg C or Deg F?

If you have an AIR pump in CA (KA as I like to call it ) you need to keep it or the smog check station WILL fail you >. If it's original equipment on your vehicle it should say so on your emissions sticker under the hood.

EGR can actually reduce fuel consumption at cruise by reducing pumping losses in the engine. I don't like the idea of circulating "dirty" air back into the engine but the fuel economy/emissions benefits are there with no impact on WOT performance as they turn it off at WOT.

    Re: Air Pump Question

    Awesome, thanks for the info.

The temp is in F which I thought was weird.

    Re: Air Pump Question

I think it means that if the temp falls below 36F then it will disable the air pump. Anything above 36F (in you case) will keep the air pump enabled for a set amount of time (value is set in the computer and at this time can not be change with HP Tuners). So if you never wanted the air pump to work then you could make the value say 125+ degrees, something that we'll never see.

    Re: Air Pump Question

Are we sure it doesn't refer to the TEST and not the actual function of the air pump? I read somewher that it just disables the test below this temp.

I only ask because I have to pass emissions testing here and what to know the correct way to disable it.

Does anyone know for sure what settings to use on the air codes? (410, 412, 418, 1415, 1416)?
